A construction company is seeking to employ the services of the following:

POSITION: Quantity Surveyor

Quantity surveyors ensure building projects remain within budget. They provide cost and material estimates, draw up projected budgets, and work alongside a team, noting any design changes and their effect on cost. Quantity surveyors often liaise with builders, architects, engineers, and other contractors.

Quantity Surveyor Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reviewing construction plans and preparing quantity requirements.
  • Scrutinizing maintenance and material costs, as well as contracts to ensure the best deals.
  • Liaising with site managers, clients, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Preparing reports, analyses, contracts, budgets, risk assessment, and other documents.
  • Advising managers and clients on improvements and new strategies.
  • Keeping track of materials and ordering more when required.
  • Documenting any changes in design and updating budgets.
  • Establishing and maintaining professional relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Traveling from the office to various sites as required.
  • The quantity surveyor will be tasked with analyzing existing budgets and making improvements.
  • Reviewing plans and preparing quantity estimates
  • Building relationships with clients and site managers.
  • Help to ensure that the construction project is completed within its projected budget.

  • Knowledge of building and construction
  • Leadership qualities
  • Time management skills
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Ability to problem-solve and use your initiative.
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Methodical way of thinking.
  • Good financial and numeracy management skills.
  • Excellent negotiating and interpersonal skills.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Read people and tailor their negotiation strategies to ensure the best possible outcome.
  • Construction estimating or finance experience is advantageous.

Qualification:

  • HND/Degree in BSc. Quantity Surveying and Construction Economics or its equivalent.
  • Membership of GhIS will be an advantage.

Experience: Five (5) years or more.
