POSITION: Accounts Officer

Prudential Trust is seeking an Accounts Officer to join our team in Kasoa. If you have strong analytical and problem solving abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and can work independently to meet deadlines, this role offers the opportunity to handle financial reporting, compliance, general ledger management, and budgeting support for a growing organization.

Why Prudential Trust?

Prudential Trust values systematic recording, analysis, and reporting of financial health. We rely on accurate financial statements, management accounts, and timely month end closings to guide internal decision making, ensure legal compliance, and communicate with external stakeholders. As an Accounts Officer, you will not simply process transactions; you will prepare balance sheets and income statements, support tax filings, liaise with external auditors, and analyze costs and revenues to shape business strategy.

Your Mission

You will take responsibility for preparing accurate and timely financial statements including balance sheets and income statements. Your role includes conducting month end and year end closings, ensuring compliance with tax regulations such as GST and withholding tax, liaising with external auditors and tax agents, and supporting tax filings. Additionally, you will maintain accounting records for accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations while supporting forecasting, budgeting, and cost analysis.

Key Responsibilities

Your role spans financial reporting, compliance, general ledger management, and budgeting. Here is what you will tackle:

  • Supporting tax filings to avoid penalties and maintain good standing.

General Ledger Management

  • You will maintain accounting records for accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
  • Catching discrepancies before they affect financial statements.

Budgeting & Analysis

  • You will support forecasting and budgeting exercises, providing accurate historical data.
  • Analyzing costs and revenues to guide business strategy.
  • Interpreting financial data for management decision making.

What You Bring to the Role

Education

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as CPA or ACCA are advantageous, though not mandatory.

  • Advanced MS Excel skills for data analysis, pivot tables, and financial modeling.

Core Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills to interpret financial data and spot trends.
  • Meticulous attention to detail to catch errors before they become reporting issues.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines without constant supervision.

Personal Attributes

  • Organized: You keep accounting records tidy and audit ready.
  • Disciplined: You follow closing schedules and tax deadlines strictly.
  • Curious: You investigate variances instead of just reporting them.
  • Trustworthy: You handle sensitive financial data with discretion.

Why This Role Suits You

  • Full Cycle Exposure: You will handle reporting, compliance, general ledger, and budgeting, not just one narrow function.
  • Software Proficiency: You will use QuickBooks or Zoho Books plus advanced Excel, building valuable technical skills.
  • Strategic Input: Your cost and revenue analysis will directly guide business decisions.
  • Compliance Responsibility: You will ensure tax and audit requirements get met, protecting the organization from penalties.
