New Update: UK Spouse Visa Minimum Salary Income ~ UK Immigration 2024
A new update on the minimum income problem from Rishi Sunak. We recently revealed the UK government’s plans to raise the minimum wage level for qualified workers in an update. Nevertheless, it was unclear at the time whether people who were already in the UK renewing their visas would be impacted by this new change, which would take effect in the spring of 2024.
Rishi Sunak’s Comment on this change
According to Mr. Sunak, the UK government is developing transitional plans for nationals of the United Kingdom who earn less than 38,700 British Pounds and have foreign wives. This new regulation was announced amidst several cautions on severing family ties. At first, the government said that people who are already residing in the UK and are reapplying for visas will also be subject to this regulation.
The Prime Minister has now acknowledged that a reevaluation of this policy will occur. He continued by saying that it has been more than ten years since the income criterion was raised and that anyone with dependents needs to be able to support themselves financially. Additionally, he said that the Home Office will be drafting fair transitional arrangements and that we should anticipate hearing more soon.
It is important to remember that the family immigration regulations do allow for extraordinary situations. This would protect the applicant from unfair and severe penalties, as well as those of their partner or any related children.
Recall that skilled workers, not just those in the health and care industry, are subject to this minimal salary criterion. If the first visa application is submitted from outside of the UK, the sponsor’s income may be deducted from the required minimum income. 38,700 British Pounds is the minimum income required for partners to be eligible for extensions and permanent residency.
