POSITION: Regional Business Manager – Chemicals

What are we seeking?

We are looking for a strategic and entrepreneurial Regional Business Manager – Chemicals for our operations in Ghana. The perfect applicant will drive the commercial expansion of the Industrial Chemical Business Unit, create business strategies for new market segments, and establish SOLEVO as the industry leader. This position entails overseeing the commercial framework, driving business growth, managing the customer portfolio, and coaching the team. In reporting to senior management, this position collaborates closely with the Managing Director, Group Head of Industrial Chemicals, and various cross-functional teams.

What are our expectations for the candidate?

As Regional Business Manager – Chemicals, the main duty is to develop and oversee efficient commercial frameworks for the Industrial Chemicals Business Unit, promote sustainable value generation, and transform market presence into concrete commercial outcomes. The position requires comprehensive market knowledge, strategic implementation, and guidance in managing both clients and teams.

Main Duties:

  • Establish and execute business strategies for industrial chemicals, identifying key segments and potential opportunities.
  • Create a stream of prospects and formulate comprehensive business strategies for sustained regional achievement.
  • Oversee and enhance the customer portfolio, comprising major accounts and international clients; perform routine visits and provide technical assistance.
  • Manage pricing, sales volume, accounts receivable, and inventory to meet business goals.
  • Observe competitor actions and direct initiatives to maintain competitive edge.
  • Align supply, inventory, and S&OP activities with the production and supply chain groups.
  • Develop and predict sales, profit margins, and volume goals across continuous and multi-year periods.
  • Implement a rigorous credit policy and manage receivables effectively.
  • Examine P&L statements, customer finances, and competitor information to guide strategic choices.
  • Guide, mentor, and inspire a top-performing sales team; establish operational goals and manage reporting systems.

Requirements

  • A Master’s degree in Economics, Management, or a similar field; an extra degree in Chemistry is advantageous.
  • A minimum of 5 years of senior-level experience in sales management, ideally within chemicals or industrial sectors.
  • Strong financial understanding, encompassing profit and loss, balance sheets, and cash flow assessment.
  • Proven expertise in developing and managing sales teams.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the dynamics of Ghana’s industrial and chemical markets.

Pleasant to Obtain:

  • Knowledge of international and regional chemical industry stakeholders
  • Proficient in overseeing international accounts and building collaborative teams
  • Expertise in negotiation, business development, and sales management.
  • Proficiency in extra languages (local dialects or French) is an advantage.
