POSITION: Data Privacy and Protection Specialist

Job Overview

MTN Ghana is entering an exciting new phase, where operational excellence and innovation are paramount. As a leader in the rapidly evolving ICT sector, we are strengthening our commitment to data protection and privacy. We are seeking a dedicated Data Privacy and Protection Specialist to join our Compliance team. This role is crucial for ensuring our technical and support functions adhere to both internal policies and stringent national regulations.

In this position, you will serve as the technical expert on data privacy implementation. Your work will directly safeguard personal data and build trust with our customers in a fluid regulatory landscape.

Key Responsibilities

Your role will be both strategic and hands-on, with a focus on the following core areas:

Policy Implementation: You will support the rollout of data privacy policies and procedures, ensuring full alignment with the Ghana Data Protection Act and other relevant laws.
Data Mapping and Inventory: Maintaining accurate data inventory and flow maps is essential. You will analyze system architecture and use data discovery tools to track personal data processing within technical and support functions.
Risk Assessment: Conducting and documenting Data Protection Impact Assessments for new projects and systems will be a regular duty.
Compliance Monitoring: You will monitor adherence to data protection rules, identify potential risks, and report on any compliance gaps or breaches.
Data Subject Rights: Managing data subject requests efficiently is key. You will process and track requests for access, rectification, and erasure, ensuring all responses meet regulatory deadlines.
Audits and Vendor Management: Conducting various privacy compliance audits, including Third Party Risk Assessments and reviewing vendor technical controls, is a critical responsibility.
Collaborative Integration: You will work closely with technical teams to embed data privacy requirements directly into system designs, business processes, and new technology deployments.
Incident Response: Supporting data breach investigations through log analysis, data tracing, and impact assessments is a vital function of this role.

Your Profile and Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
Certification as a Data Protection Supervisor from the Data Protection Commission.
A minimum of three years of experience in data privacy, IT, or a compliance-related field, preferably within a medium to large organization.
In-depth knowledge of data protection regulations and excellent reporting skills.
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
