POSITION: Chief Accountant
JOB OVERVIEW
Manages the daily implementation of processes affecting the general ledger, including assistance to clients/departments as they navigate and comprehend these processes. Oversees accounting activities, particularly in the domains of account balancing, ledger reconciliation, reporting, and resolving discrepancies. Oversees other Finance and Accounting staff in aspects concerning general ledgers, subsidiary ledgers, and associated reporting.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Accounting or a similar field, lasting 4 years; 1 year of experience in finance, accounting, or a related professional sector.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Overseeing Tasks, Initiatives, and Regulations
- Manages and executes accounting tasks and projects as delegated.
- Manages, executes, and monitors Accounting SOP audits across all sections of the property.
- Adheres to Federal and State regulations related to fraud and collection practices.
- Produces and delivers precise and prompt outcomes in the format of reports, presentations, etc.
- Examines data and assesses outcomes to select the most effective solution and address issues.
- Gathers, encodes, classifies, computes, organizes, reviews, or confirms information or data.
- Reconciles credit card accounts.
- Examines contracts for groups and conducts credit reference checks for direct-billed groups when required.
Sustaining Financial and Accounting Objectives
- Attains and surpasses objectives, including performance targets, budgetary aims, team objectives, etc.
- Creates targeted objectives and strategies to prioritize, structure, and achieve your tasks.
- Provides reports punctually, making sure to meet submission deadlines.
- Guarantees that profits and losses are recorded correctly.
- Oversees all applicable taxes, making sure that they are up-to-date, collected, and/or accrued.
- Preserves a robust accounting and operational control environment to protect assets.
- Finalizes period-end tasks every period.
- Offer guidance and support to other departments concerning accounting and budgeting policies and practices, as well as effective management and use of financial resources.
Exhibiting and Utilizing Accounting Expertise
- Shows understanding of work-related topics, products, systems, and procedures.
- Shows understanding of procedures for handling return checks.
- Shows understanding of the Gross Revenue Report.
- Shows understanding and skill in write-off processes.
- Shows understanding and skill with consolidated deposit processes.
- Stays current with technical advancements and implements new knowledge in your work.
- Employs computers and computer systems (comprising hardware and software) to code, develop software, configure functions, input data, or handle information.
- Applies pertinent information and personal judgment to assess if events or processes adhere to laws, regulations, or standards.
Managing and Conducting Human Resource Activities
- Aids in the growth, guidance, and instruction of staff members.
- Offers supportive guidance and advice to team members.
- Educates individuals on accounts receivable posting methods.
