Applications are open for the NASA Hubble Fellowship Program, starting fall 2027. STScI administers this postdoctoral programme for NASA Astrophysics. Fellows become Einstein, Hubble, or Sagan Fellows based on research focus. Up to 24 fellowships will be awarded this cycle.

About the Fellowship

NHFP continues the legacy of NASA’s Einstein, Hubble, and Sagan programmes. Fellows choose their own US host institution for the appointment. Each institution can host at most two new fellows yearly. Host institutions must meet NHFP’s verified employment policy.

What Fellows Receive

Fellows receive a salary comparable to other elite prize fellowships. Health insurance, relocation costs, and travel funding are also covered. Computing services and publication costs receive dedicated support too. Fellows cannot accept extra pay from other appointments during the term.

Who Can Apply

Applicants need a PhD in astronomy, physics, or a related field. The degree must be completed on or after January 1, 2023. Any nationality can apply, provided the applicant works in English. Former NHFP fellows are not eligible to reapply.

Applicants submit their materials through the official application portal. Letters of reference follow one week after the main deadline. Referees must upload PDF letters directly, without an automated reminder email.
