POSITION: Media Project Assistant

Purpose of the job
To provide general and technical Project Assistance role to the Engaging Media and Minorities to Act on Peace Building (EMMAP) Project Coordinator and Media Officer. This will include working with the project partners in Senegal, Sierra Leone and Ghana to ensure effective and timely implementation of and reporting on the project.
Main duties and responsibilities
The activities include, but are not limited to:
- To provide a full range of administrative duties including co-ordinating and collating relevant information for colleagues.
- Organise and prioritise own workload and deadlines by proactively communicating with the EMMAP Coordinators and the Media Officer or other members of the implementation team.
- Ensure effective communication, information processing and logistics coordination as per project requirements, partnership needs and deadlines.
- Developing databases for the projects deliverables based on the key project documents.
- Keeping records of the ongoing project activities with specific attention to progress and results being made, timelines involved, and reports done.
- Assisting the project team in planning and implementing project activities and to create, maintain, update and monitor manual and electronic information documentation and systems and support the teams as required.
- Coordinating logistics for execution of project activities and in line with the discussion with the EMMAP Coordinator and other Teams.
- Communicating with stakeholders within directives issued by the EMMAP Coordinator.
- Organizing meetings with project stakeholders on a quarterly basis, taking minutes and sharing highlights with MRGA, MRGE and MRGI staff on project Slack Channel. Support colleagues in the production and distribution of publicity materials.
- Ensure compliance with the good practice guides, policies and procedures.
- To maintain and provide accurate records and information for financial and non-financial in a format which is user friendly and reliable.
- Participating in monitoring project’s progress by holding virtual interviews and written emails to partners to gather progress.
- Build effective working relationships with other MRGA, MRGE and MRGI team members; sharing knowledge, skills, experience, and expertise with colleagues to contribute to and share best practice.
- Commitment to personal development by keeping own skills up to date in order to meet project needs and technological developments.
- To carry out any other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job as requested by management.
About you
We are looking for someone who has:
- A degree in media, peace and conflict resolution, development studies or any other relevant qualification. A Masters in the same an added advantage.
- At least three years’ experience working in similar position.
- Knowledge of human rights, peace and conflict prevention, media work. Experience with implementing regional projects and working with ethnic minorities and indigenous peoples an added advantage.
- Knowledge of engaging, communicating, and managing partnerships and across countries.
- Knowledge of French and being able to communicate, understand and interpret French a MUST.
- Experience of using common software programmes (e.g. Microsoft Office- Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Desirable
- Good writing skills for social media and blogs,
- Experience of SharePoint or other content management systems.
- Knowledge of relevant emerging technologies.
