- Embedding observation based assessment and learning journeys to track each child’s progress from creche through EY3.
- Leading smooth, well supported transitions from home to creche, between Early Years stages, and into Primary.
Child Wellbeing, Safeguarding & Development
- You will serve as a designated safeguarding lead for the Early Years, ensuring compliance with child protection policies from infancy onward.

- Overseeing health, hygiene, nutrition, sleep, and safety routines appropriate to each age band.
- Ensuring all Early Years staff receive training in paediatric first aid, safe sleep, allergen management, and emergency response.
- Championing social emotional learning, positive behaviour guidance, and age appropriate self regulation strategies.
- Identifying children who may benefit from additional support, including early developmental concerns flagged in creche.
Staff Leadership & Professional Development
- You will recruit, induct, mentor, and retain high calibre Early Years teachers, teaching assistants, and creche caregivers.
- Leading regular learning walks, lesson observations, and reflective coaching conversations grounded in early childhood best practice.
- Planning and delivering targeted professional development on infant and toddler care, early childhood pedagogy, safeguarding, and inclusive practice.
Parent & Family Partnership
- You will build strong, trusting partnerships with parents as a child’s first and most important educators.
- Leading clear, warm, timely communication with families on children’s progress, wellbeing, and daily life at school.
- Planning parent workshops, open days, conferences, and family engagement events, including new parent orientation for toddler and creche classes.
Operations & Compliance
- You will oversee day to day operations including timetabling, staffing rotas, supervision ratios, and resource allocation.
- Ensuring all classrooms, sleep areas, outdoor spaces, and equipment meet safety, hygiene, and quality standards for infants, toddlers, and young children.
- Maintaining accurate records of attendance, assessments, incidents, and safeguarding concerns.
- Supporting the Principal in budgeting, procurement, and strategic planning.
