Position Title: IT Specialist

Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) – is a public-benefit federal company working in more than 100 countries worldwide. Scope of Role:

The IT specialist’s main job is to make sure that IT and management systems work well and follow best practices in the IT business. They also have to put GIZ IT standards and recommendations into place and follow them.

Task

• Makes sure that current gear (laptops, servers, and all PCs) is available and meets GIZ standards.
• Maintains PCs, laptops, printers, digital cameras, scanners, and other hardware, as well as the system’s network and recording of hardware and network.
• Installs, updates, and sets up all common GIZ software, such as Microsoft 365, WinPACCS, and SAP.
• Set up new user accounts, profiles, and passwords, as well as manage and update websites that already exist.
• Makes sure the LAN is always available, installs any updates, and makes sure the necessary hardware is routinely and professionally maintained. Installs and manages the LAN.
• Checks how well the Internet connections are working, comes up with plans for managing traffic, and sets up the firewall.
• Takes care of the overall management of the IT system and makes sure it runs smoothly.
• Reports basic problems with GIZ IT tools to the GIZ IT help desk.
• Keeps an up-to-date list of all hardware and software systems, backs up data, and deals with the issue of data security.

Needed Qualifications and Experience

• A BSc or MSc in Information Technology.
• At least 3 years of work experience in a similar role.
• Certifications from the IT industry, such as MCSE, MCP, or CCNP, are a plus.
• Excellent understanding of IT hardware and software, computer network systems, database software, and network security.
• Ideally, you should know about GIZ tools and software like SAP, WINPACCS, etc.
• It’s a plus to have work experience in IT user management, IT Helpdesk Support, and customer relations.
• You must have a strong grasp of the English language, both in writing and in speech. Knowing German would be a plus.
• Good presentation, communication, and reporting skills, with the ability to explain complicated technical information in a simple business context.
• Good time management.
• Ability to work under pressure, good team orientation, and the ability to work with others and negotiate.
• Being proactive about personal growth and changes in institutions
• Doing work that is focused on getting results and being ready to take on responsibility.
• Willingness to learn new skills as needed for the jobs to be done; the right steps are agreed upon with management.
