POSITION: Senior Contracts Officer

Its subsidiary, Asanko Gold Ghana Ltd, operates a multi-pit mining complex situated on the Asankrangwa Gold Belt, which includes a processing plant with a capacity of 5.5Mtpa and opportunities for expansion.

Position Overview

Asanko Gold Ghana Ltd is looking to hire a highly qualified, results-oriented, and experienced individual to be part of our Supply Chain Department as a Senior Contracts Officer. The chosen candidate will take on an active, practical role and will need to:

  • finish specific concrete procedures,
  • adhere to procedural guidelines to finish tasks,
  • apply practical reasoning to address challenges, or seek help,
  • Enhance working practices through daily experiences, protocols, and the observation of recurring occurrences.

JOB OBJECTIVE

To lead a team of professionals responsible for acquiring goods, services, and works from suppliers while adhering to local content regulations and Asanko Procurement Standards. The position guarantees efficient management of supplier relationships, compliance with contract requirements, and the provision of value to the organization.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

  • Manage a group of experts responsible for acquiring products, labor, and services from vendors while adhering to local laws.
  • Evaluate potential suppliers and oversee supplier relationship management.
  • Assess, prequalify, and oversee suppliers to guarantee robust supplier relationship management and ongoing performance enhancement.
  • Prepare, assess, negotiate, and manage contracts with vendors to protect company interests and guarantee adherence to established terms.
  • Oversee and ensure adherence to supplier guidelines, contract terms, and ethical business conduct.
  • Deliver consistent reports and updates regarding supplier performance, adherence to contracts, and procurement activities to management.
  • Perform any additional tasks that may be given by the supervisor.

Required Qualification or Experience

  • At least seven (7) years of practical experience in essential procurement and contract management responsibilities, ideally within the mining sector or similar fields.
  • Comprehensive understanding of procurement standards, contract law, and local content regulations.
  • Extensive business understanding with the capability to recognize issues, solve problems, and seize opportunities.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Local Content Regulations, encompassing legal requirements for local supplier involvement and workforce inclusion.
  • Expertise in trade compliance and regulations, along with knowledge of material restrictions, sanctions, tariffs, and various legal compliance matters impacting procurement.
  • Extensive expertise in supply chain management in global mining settings or similar industries.
  • Exhibited leadership skills in sourcing and contract management, with a successful history of overseeing teams and intricate supplier connections.
  • Demonstrated skill in maneuvering through intricate regulatory settings, especially those concerning local content and trade regulations.
  • Expertise in creating and executing procurement strategies that focus on local resources while adhering to trade agreements.
  • Adept at creating regional supplier networks, executing training initiatives, and overseeing supplier diversity or local content projects.
  • Robust computer skills, encompassing expertise in MS Office software.

  • Robust business insight and commercial management abilities pertaining to sourcing, procurement rules, and optimal practices.
  • Strategic mindset with the capability to reconcile local content laws and supply chain effectiveness.
  • Proficient negotiation abilities with local and international suppliers, in accordance with the company’s procurement guidelines.
  • Proficiency in creating frameworks for monitoring and compliance reporting, encompassing contract designs with local content requirements and adherence to legal standards.
  • Capability to assess contract execution, establish completion standards, and oversee service contracts efficiently.
  • Familiarity with supplier quality frameworks and assessment benchmarks to guarantee elevated performance levels.
  • Expertise in contract management systems, e-procurement platforms, and associated digital tools.
  • Robust abilities in resolving conflicts and managing change.
  • Financial evaluation and management skill to enhance cost-effectiveness.
  • Results-oriented management abilities, emphasizing responsibility and outcomes.
  • Robust abilities in managing strategic relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Outstanding teamwork, effective communication, and strong interpersonal abilities.
