POSITION: Human Resources Associate

BRAC Ghana Savings and Loans Ltd is seeking a Human Resources Associate to join our team in Accra. If you have experience in the financial services or banking sector, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and strong interpersonal and organizational skills, this role offers the opportunity to partner with department heads, manage recruitment and employee relations, oversee training and development, implement performance management, ensure compliance, and champion safeguarding activities.

As a Human Resources Associate, you will not simply process paperwork; you will support HR functions including recruitment, employee relations, training and development, performance management, compensation, compliance, and personnel records management. Your work will directly support the organization’s mission.

Your Mission

You will take responsibility for partnering with department heads to understand business goals and develop HR strategies that support organizational objectives. Your role includes providing insights on workforce planning, organizational design, and succession planning, supporting the Head on HR trends and data analytics, providing input on compensation structures, collaborating with payroll and finance, assisting staff with benefits enrollment, tracking absences and leaves, ensuring compliance with labor laws, reviewing and updating HR policies, overseeing training and development, implementing performance appraisal systems, coordinating employee engagement programs, and maintaining personnel records.

Your role spans strategic partnership, compensation and benefits, compliance, training, performance management, employee engagement, institutional development, personnel records, and safeguarding. Here is what you will tackle:

Strategic Partnership

  • You will partner with department heads to understand business goals and develop HR strategies that support organizational objectives.
  • Providing insights on workforce planning, organizational design, and succession planning.
  • Supporting the Head on HR trends, data analytics, and best practices.

Compensation and Benefits

  • You will provide input on compensation structures to ensure internal equity and external competitiveness.
  • Collaborating with payroll and finance teams for accurate salary and benefits administration.
  • Assisting staff with benefits enrollment and queries including health insurance and tier 3 contributions.
  • Tracking absences, leaves, and overtime records.

Compliance and Policy Management

  • You will ensure compliance with labor laws, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Reviewing, updating, and communicating HR policies and procedures.
  • Overseeing compliance audits and managing performance appraisals.

Training and Development

  • You will oversee the training and development function together with related parties guided by the Head of HR and CEO.
  • Continuously collecting and updating information on training needs.
  • Supporting employee wellness programs.
  • Evaluating training program effectiveness.

Performance Management

  • You will assist in implementing performance appraisal systems including objective setting and mid year and end of year assessments.
  • Monitoring performance management cycles and supporting departmental heads.
  • Providing support to staff on performance improvement and career development.

Employee Engagement

  • You will support initiatives to promote a positive and inclusive work culture.
  • Coordinating employee engagement programs, wellness activities, and team building events.
  • Addressing employee welfare issues and supporting retention strategies.

Institutional Development

  • You will promote a positive organizational culture by championing diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
  • Ensuring effective HR related communication for transparency.
  • Serving as a trusted advisor to employees and managers.

Personnel Records Management

  • You will maintain and update staff records including personal details, contracts, leaves, and performance reviews.
  • Ensuring confidentiality of staff personal and professional information.
  • Distributing internal communication including HR updates, policy changes, and training notices.

Safeguarding Responsibilities

  • You will establish a safeguarding culture by implementing the safeguarding policy.
  • Acting as a key source of support, guidance, and expertise on safeguarding.
  • Ensuring team members receive appropriate training and resources.
  • Following the safeguarding reporting procedure in case of reportable incidents.

What You Bring to the Role

Education & Certification

  • A bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Psychology, or a relevant discipline.
  • Professional certification such as CHRMP, PHRi, SPHRi, or CIPD gives you a plus.

Experience

  • A minimum of four years of experience in a human resources role.
  • Experience in the financial services or banking sector is highly preferred.
  • In depth knowledge of Ghana Labour Laws and HR best practices.
  • Experience in training needs analysis, curriculum development, and adult learning principles.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engaging with staff and management.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple HR functions.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism for handling sensitive employee information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
