Insurance Supervision Jobs in London 2024 (£62k – £79k Annually)

The UK’s central bank is called the Bank of England. Our goal is to bring financial and monetary stability to the British people. The Bank of England is a complex institution. Every one of its 4,000 workers is committed to serving the public interest and advancing financial stability and the welfare of the British people.

The roughly 500 insurers in the UK are encouraged to maintain stability and safety by the Insurance Supervision Directorate. Included are friendly societies, general insurers, life insurers, and the London market. We help prevent possible hazards from harming policyholders and the stability of the financial system by detecting and reducing them.

Our task is multifaceted and challenging, but it presents multiple opportunities to safeguard policyholders and the financial stability of the UK while also yielding significant and enduring advantages to the community.

Department Overview

The P&I Clubs (marine mutuals that offer coverage for ship owners), subsidiaries of Bermudan and North American insurance groups, Lloyd’s of London and all businesses that write business through Lloyd’s, and other businesses operating in the London wholesale insurance market are all subject to regulation by the London Markets Division (LMD).

In the UK, LMD is also in charge of regulating insurance-linked securities. We are seeking to appoint two individuals as managers within LMD. One role will be in charge of a sizable global organization’s UK operations, which includes its connected Lloyd’s syndicates.

The second position is a 4- to 5-month-term temporary supervisory role for businesses with specialized operations. Those who wish to have a substantial impact on the supervisory outcomes of their companies and be exposed to a variety of supervisory issues should apply for these roles. Achieving our prudential supervisory approach requires each role to offer a high degree of responsibility together with a varied range of options.

The incumbent will work with and report to the senior manager of the team in addition to having specific line management duties. Since this is a pooled hiring process, you might be considered for roles within Insurance Supervision that are comparable to this one.

The insurance industry is under a lot of external pressure, and the companies we follow have expanded their range of business tactics. The companies under supervision work in some of the world’s busiest and most competitive insurance markets. Supervisors deal with a wide range of challenging issues and obstacles related to supervision in various situations.

The financial services sector, consulting and business advising, accounting, actuarial, compliance, non-financial firms, other PRA divisions, and the Bank of England as a whole are among the backgrounds of our supervisors. We encourage applications for this procedure from a wide variety of candidates.

The Insurance Directorate is committed to equal employment opportunities and diversity for all of its staff members. This position may be carried out with flexible scheduling options or as part of a job-sharing program. Both full-time and part-time employees are invited to apply, as is the case with part-time employees. If you work with us, you will be given the guidance, encouragement, and customized work options required to establish a long-term career with the Bank of England.
