Industries in Canada with the Highest Growth Rates for Immigrants

The Canadian industry with the highest growth rates will guide newcomers going to Canada.

Canada’s economy has a reputation for being strong and stable. Following the epidemic, the country experienced a strong comeback in various industries, with several of them experiencing significant growth.

Canada’s aggressive immigration policies are one of the primary drivers of the country’s long-term economic development. According to the Immigration Levels Plan 2023-2025, Canada will receive 500,000 immigrants each year by the end of 2025.

Almost a quarter of the more than 39,000,000 people who live in Canada identify as immigrants. In Canada, newcomers frequently arrive prepared to fill labor gaps caused by a large number of retirements or a lack of qualified candidates.

Some employment industries stand out for having the fastest growth and the most in-demand skills.

Healthcare is one of Canada’s fastest-growing industries.

Canadians are living longer and needing greater medical care than previous generations. Because of the increased demand, Canadian provinces are putting up significant effort to attract international healthcare staff. In Canada, 39% of dentists, 23% of registered nurses, and more than 35% of physicians currently practice.

As of February 2023, the healthcare industry has the most open opportunities, with 143,800 available. This information is taken from Statistics Canada’s most recent job opening statistics. Furthermore, the pandemic had a particularly detrimental influence on the nursing business, compelling many nurses to take extended leave or leave the field entirely.

To make it easier for healthcare professionals to become permanent residents, the IRCC has begun eliminating several limits for doctors who were previously considered self-employed. Self-employed professionals are typically ineligible for Express Entry.

Immigration as a healthcare professional

Many healthcare workers enter Canada under the Express Entry program. High-skilled applicants are targeted via the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the CEC, and the Federal Skilled Trades Program.

Furthermore, because healthcare is a provincial duty, the majority of provinces have streams under the Provincial Nominee Program for healthcare workers. The Alberta Express Entry Stream, for example, now includes the Dedicated Healthcare Pathway.

Other provinces hold PNP draws on a regular basis, with a concentration on candidates in the healthcare industry. In British Columbia, this type of draw occurs almost weekly. Approximately 2,349 healthcare professionals were recently invited to apply through Ontario’s Human Capital Priorities stream.

There are also two government pilot programs for those who care for children and the elderly. The government announced earlier this year that the amount of Canadian work experience required for a career to be eligible for permanent residency under these programs will be reduced from 24 to 12 months.

Agriculture

The agriculture business in Canada employs around 243,000 people, and there are currently 14,000 or more unfilled vacancies.

According to Royal Bank of Canada research, 40% of Canadian farm proprietors will retire by 2033. According to the research, Canada plans to welcome 30,000 permanent immigrants over the next ten years to start or take over farms and greenhouses in order to overcome a short-term skills shortfall.

Canadian immigration via agricultural employment

In order to fill some of these positions, IRCC has just announced that it is expanding the Agri-Food Pilot Program and lowering occupational caps. Jobs that are eligible include:

  • Wholesale butchers
  • Farm laborers, in general
  • Agricultural managers and skilled livestock workers
  • Commercial butchers
  • Workers in the harvest
  • The workforce in the food industry

Some PNPs have different streams for agricultural laborers, much as there are for healthcare professions.

The tech sector in Canada has the highest growth rates for immigrants.

The United States Department of Treasury included a twenty billion dollar investment in the federal budget for the year 2023 in order to incentivize the development of large clean energy and clean growth infrastructure projects. It is expected that there will be more demand in the technological sector as a consequence of this investment.

It also adds that many jobs in the manufacturing sector of clean technology do not require a degree from a university and that the average wage of workers in this industry was $90,252 in 2021, which was significantly higher than the average salary in the Canadian economy, which was $69,311.

The increasing significance of the AI business contributes to the demand for qualified IT employees in Canada. According to Invest in Canada, a government website designed to attract investment in Canada’s information technology sector, there are 1,032 Canadian companies that specialize in artificial intelligence and machine learning. According to the Global AI Index, this nation holds the fourth spot in the world for artificial intelligence (AI) deployment, innovation, and investment.

Canadian immigration through a tech occupation

The Information and Communications Technology Canada (IRCC) is committed to increasing the number of individuals who select to pursue careers in the field of information technology by providing programs such as the Global Talent Stream. The Temporary Foreign Workers Program, more commonly referred to as TFWP, is comprised of several different parts, such as this program, is one of those parts.

In addition to this, it attempts to promote an atmosphere that is conducive to the growth of the information technology industry in Canada, and it aims to do so by creating an environment that is conducive to this growth. After the potential worker has supplied their application in its entirety, the endeavor will make an effort to fulfill a requirement that the processing takes place within fourteen days. This requirement is intended to ensure that the application is processed as quickly as possible.

In addition to these draws conducted at random, the Provincial Nominee Program also performs draws based on particular criteria, such as age, gender, and geographic location. The Tech Stream in British Columbia, which is an example of a provincial tech stream; the Tech Draw for New Professionals in Ontario; the Saskatchewan Tech Talent Pathway; and the Alberta Accelerated Tech Pathway are further examples of provincial tech streams.
