HOW TO RENEW NHIS WITH YOUR PHONE AT HOME
We live in a frazzled world where anything can happen. It is therefore important that you keep your NHIS card up to date to avoid any issues at the Hospital. Due to our busy schedules, it’s sometimes difficult to go to the NHIS office to join a long queue for NHIS renewal.
To avoid this time-wasting another inconvenience ls at the office, a mobile renewal service has been introduced.
Henceforth, you can have access to renew your membership on your phone with any network. Here are the steps to follow when renewing your membership on your phone.
STEPS IN RENEWING YOUR NHIS
1. First, dial *929# on your phone. Note that you can do so with any network.
2. Secondly, from the drop-down list, select option 2. The options available when you dial the number below include: Check Policy Validity, Renew Membership, New Registration, and Link Ghana Card. Option 2 is “Renew Membership”.
3. On the next page after selecting option 2, choose the card type. Since you are renewing the NHIS, select option 1.
4. After, you will be asked to enter your 8digit NHIS Membership number. This can be found on your NHIS card. You will be asked to confirm the number again after the first entry.
5. After confirming your membership number, you will receive a mobile money notification prompt. This is where you pay the amount a certain amount as the renewal fee. The cost of this is 21 cedis.
6. After payment, you will receive a message that you have successfully renewed your card. You will also be notified of the start date and end date of your renewal.

We must take note that NHIS does not have agents who are responsible for assisting customers to renew their cards on the phone. Beware of scams or fraud. If you think you cannot follow this process, find a trusted person to assist you in doing so.
