ROLE: Africa Communications Specialist
As a member of GE Vernova’s Communications team, you will help shape the narrative and engagement surrounding a substantial and public company transformation. You will collaborate directly with teams from all across the world to illustrate GE Vernova’s progress, performance, and route to growth in a dynamic environment.
The Africa Communications Specialist will play an important role in creating and implementing GE Vernova’s external and internal communications, as well as reputation management initiatives in a specific region. The successful candidate will assist the leadership team in meeting business objectives and growth priorities; collaborate with the broader GE Vernova Communications teams on strategic initiatives; work closely with various business units and functional teams; and manage a network of PR, event management, and creative agencies. The post will report directly to the Middle East and Africa Communications Leader, who will oversee the region’s overall strategy.
Essential Responsibilities
- Develop and implement regional communication plans that include strategies and techniques to support business objectives and growth priorities.
- Lead proactive media relations to position GE Vernova as a regional industry leader, support growth initiatives, build reputation, and increase brand awareness and recognition.
- Maintain regional risk heatmaps and establish crisis management plans that comply with GE Vernova requirements.
- Design and execute internal communication plans that: provide timely information to employees to drive strong connectivity to business strategy; inform, align, and motivate employees to support company plans and priorities; drive employee engagement and productivity; encourage a culture of recognition, best practice sharing, inclusion, and diversity; and promote our shared sense of purpose.
- Create briefings to assist corporate executives in effectively educating, engaging, motivating, and influencing key audiences at external and internal events.
- Mine compelling stories and develop editorial and content calendars to: maintain an effective share of voice in local/regional tier 1 media; tell our story creatively and impactfully on relevant GE Vernova regional/global social media channels; recognise achievements, share best practices, and keep employees informed and motivated on business priorities.
- Lead the design, development, and/or critical evaluation of a variety of content types, including case studies, films, podcasts, executive speeches, social media postings, brochures, infographics, and more.
- Discover new channels, methodologies, and creative chances.
- Create and implement regional advertising, brand management, and sponsorship initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams from different business units on marcomms, digital marketing, and demand generation campaigns.
- Collaborate with the whole GE Vernova Communications team on the conceptualization and regional implementation of global external and internal campaigns and initiatives.
- Support all parts of the company-owned and supported events.
- Manage external agencies and consultants to establish, track progress, and achieve intended outcomes.
- Create plans to help the company transition in reformed countries to ensure business continuity, regain employee confidence and commitment, and manage reputation.
- Measure and report regional communications activities and performance, and offer recommendations to the team based on the findings.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree from an approved institution or college, or comparable knowledge or experience
- Demonstrated experience in communications, particularly in regional communications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities in English and French.
- Excellent attention to detail and follow-through.
- Unwavering dedication to ethics and safety.

- Project and agency management experience
- Experience with working with matrixed organizations
- Experience with documenting, measuring, and reporting outcomes to demonstrate program impact.
- Experience with and understanding of the energy/power generation sector is a plus, but not needed.
- Experience working in Northwest Africa and/or Sub-Saharan Africa is a plus, but not needed.
- Fluent in Arabic.
