Fully funded Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarships 2024
The Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship Program, which provides fully financed postgraduate scholarships to international students for study in Ireland, is now accepting applications for the academic year 2023-2024. Applicants from all disciplines who desire to pursue their studies in Ireland beginning in September 2024 must be international.
The Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation, and Science supports and oversees the Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship Program, a well-established national program. With an average success rate of 18% over the last five years, this scholarship program is extremely competitive.
The Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship Programme is one of a kind in the Irish research environment, and it supplements other avenues for financially supported postgraduate education within the Irish ecosystem. Several of its characteristics include the following:
- individual, prestigious awards for excellent research in the name of the applicant;
- an objective selection process using international, independent expert peer review;
- funding across all disciplines, from archaeology to zoology; and
- awards for bottom-up, non-directed research, with the exception of those funded by our strategic funding partners.
We encourage pioneering proposals that target new and developing fields of study or those that introduce inventive, creative methods. The integration of knowledge, methods, resources, and perspectives from two or more disciplines is recognized as the key to developing fundamental understanding, hence proposals of an interdisciplinary nature are also invited.
With an average success rate of 18% over the previous five years, the Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship Program is extremely competitive. The program’s successful grantees are acknowledged for having the potential to become global leaders in research.
