POSITION: Communication Officer Position

FarmYield Ghana (formerly Tractors for Africa) is dedicated to transforming agriculture by empowering smallholder farmers. Through our core services in mechanization, credit, storage, and commercial farming, we drive sustainable growth and rural development. We are seeking a passionate Communication Officer to capture and share the impactful stories of our work directly from the field.

Role Overview and Impact

The Communication Officer will play a vital role in documenting and disseminating the narrative of our impact. You will work closely with our field teams to create high-quality content, including photos, videos, and written stories, that highlight our activities, achievements, and the communities we serve. This role ensures compelling content is submitted in a timely manner for publishing across our communication channels.

Your Key Functions and Responsibilities

You will be the primary storyteller, bridging field operations and public engagement.

Capture professional photographs and videos during field visits to showcase organizational impact and activities.
Collect authentic quotes and personal stories from beneficiaries, partners, and stakeholders to build compelling narratives.
Manage and update the organization’s social media platforms with regular, professional content.
Systematically organize and label all media files for efficient storage and retrieval.
Submit all curated content to the Communication Head promptly according to set schedules.
Collaborate with the field team to understand activities and ensure coverage of key events and milestones.
Maintain a weekly report detailing field coverage and content submitted, while identifying new storytelling opportunities.
Uphold the highest ethical standards, respecting the dignity and privacy of all individuals featured in content.
Perform additional duties as reasonably assigned by management to support communication goals.

Required Skills and Experience

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Media Studies, Journalism, or a related field
Possess proven experience in social media management and content strategy.
Have hands-on experience in photography, videography, and content writing, preferably in rural or field settings.
Demonstrate proficiency with cameras, smartphones, and basic editing software for photos and videos.
Exhibit excellent storytelling and communication skills with the ability to travel extensively to rural field sites.
Show a proactive, creative approach to content creation; experience with NGOs or donor-funded projects is an advantage.

Key Personal Attributes

The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for telling impactful human-centered stories.

Ability to work independently, meet strict deadlines, and possess strong writing and editing skills in clear English.
Basic graphic design and photo/video editing skills using tools like Canva or Adobe software.
A good understanding of major social media platforms and strong interpersonal skills for effective teamwork.
