POSITION: Carbon Development Specialist

Position Overview
Esoko is an innovative firm leading the way in carbon management and sustainability initiatives. With our primary initiative — the Sikafields Carbon Project — we aim to lower carbon footprints, improve environmental responsibility, and accelerate climate action through innovative technology.
Position Summary
The Carbon Development Specialist will oversee GIS and remote sensing activities in the Sikafields Carbon Project, facilitating carbon monitoring, reporting, and verification. The position centers on transforming spatial data into practical insights that enhance carbon sequestration and reduce emissions strategies.
This position requires occasional travel to project locations for data gathering, verification, and interaction with stakeholders.
Main Responsibilities
- Create and oversee GIS databases and remote sensing information for carbon tracking.
- Evaluate land cover, forest vitality, and carbon capture potential.
- Assess carbon reserves and forecast effects utilizing GIS and remote sensing technologies.
- Oversee datasets, maintain precision, and produce visual reports/dashboards.
- Work together with teams, partners, and communities to incorporate GIS into project activities.
- Assist in carbon accounting, adhering to global standards (e.g., Verra, Gold Standard).
- Develop concise reports, maps, and presentations to communicate findings.
- Stay current with the latest GIS, remote sensing, and carbon tracking technologies.
Required Skills or Experience
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in GIS, Remote Sensing, Environmental Studies, Geography, or a similar discipline.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in GIS/remote sensing, preferably related to carbon or environmental initiatives.
- Expertise in GIS applications (ArcGIS, QGIS) and remote sensing systems.
- Familiarity with carbon accounting standards (such as Verra, Gold Standard) is beneficial.
- Robust analytical, reporting, and communication abilities.
- Skill in effectively collaborating with various stakeholders.
