POSITION: Manager, Strategy & Programs

Job Description

Esoko is revolutionizing agriculture and rural progress by utilizing data, digital technologies, and innovative solutions. While expanding our impact throughout Ghana and beyond, we are seeking a strategic Program Lead. A strategic planner, analytical troubleshooter, and experienced expert, to assist in designing, executing, and overseeing significant development programs that enhance living conditions throughout rural Africa to join our group.

Job Summary

Facilitate informed decision-making based on evidence, spearhead economic studies, and oversee the planning and implementation of development initiatives that provide direct advantages to rural communities throughout Africa. Your perspectives will enhance Esoko’s offerings, shape rural development strategies, and enable funding through robust proposals and strategic alliances.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Create proposals that align with the needs of international development organizations.
  • Collaborate with partners to develop implementation plans for projects, monitoring and evaluation systems, and guide the implementation of these plans at the field level.
  • Perform market analysis, evaluate economic aspects of agricultural systems, examine rural development challenges, market trends, and farmers’ actions.
  • Construct and utilize economic models to evaluate the effects and cost-efficiency of interventions.
  • Assist in proposal creation and donor interaction, comprising the composition of technical contributions and reports.
  • Oversee and execute agricultural research and development initiatives from start to finish.
  • Conduct baseline and impact assessments utilizing data from farmers and markets.
  • Convert results into practical recommendations for Esoko’s digital advisory offerings and products.
  • Work together with diverse teams to integrate economic insights with business and operational activities.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Guide technical documentation for proposal creation, incorporating economic justification and anticipated effects.
  • Deliver research findings to internal teams, external partners, and donors through written reports, presentations, and visual data representations.
  • Oversee project budgets, schedules, and team outputs to guarantee excellent execution.
  • Collaborate with field teams and oversee data gathering or external advisors when necessary.

Labour Environment: 

This position is located at the Esoko office in Accra. It might require occasional travel (up to 25%) to project locations or stakeholder gatherings throughout Ghana. Required Skills or Experience

  • MSc/MPhil in Agricultural Economics, Economics, Development Economics/Policy, or a similar discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience in applied research, policy and economic studies, project execution, or consulting.
  • Proficient in writing proposals, managing budgets, and preparing donor reports (e.g., for USAID, GIZ, IFAD).
  • Robust quantitative and analytical abilities in creating and executing intricate projects.
  • Quantitative skills (e.g., Stata, Excel, R, Python) and adept at handling intricate datasets and delivering comprehensive analytical reports.
  • Excellent report writing abilities and capability to produce high-quality professional reports and infographics for diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Proficient communication and stakeholder involvement abilities, along with fluency in the English language.
  • Knowledge of smallholder farming environments, rural economies, and agricultural market systems in Africa is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in French or any other global language is beneficial.
