POSITION: Depot Supervisor – Goldfields Tarkwa
Context and Environment
In Ghana, the downstream petroleum sector is partially deregulated, with Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) and Registered Bulk importers as the main contributors on the supply side. The demand sector includes four (4) main participants: TEMGPLC, VIVO, ZEN, and GOIL, along with more than 50 other independent companies.
The essential supply logistics infrastructure is owned by the Government, with the RBI starting to construct its own depots. A rising concern is the involvement of locals in the mining fuel supply industry and the Government’s local content policy. Lubricants are mixed on-site at Tema Lube Oil Company, a joint venture involving TEMG Shell, GOIL, and SSNIT. Nonetheless, the law also allows for the importation of lubricants. Ghana’s supply mix is currently in a dynamic situation, featuring both potential opportunities and risks.
Duties and Responsibilities
The individual in this role is accountable for overseeing the stock depot at Goldfields Ghana Limited in Tarkwa, part of the mines unit in the Sales and Marketing Department, to meet the company’s goals. Key areas of focus include:
- Guarantee that every activity at the Tarkwa depot is conducted in compliance with the Group’s safety standards, PATROM, and secure depot operations.
Primary Tasks:
- Confirm the reception and storage of petroleum products in the deposit according to the established protocol.
- Make certain that all shipments of petroleum products to Tarkwa Depot adhere to the established procedure.
- Establish and track KPIs for the deposit, assess and provide suggestions to the Supervisor.
- The main emphasis is on the safety and upkeep of depot equipment and personnel.
- Make sure all product deliveries to GFGL – Tarkwa and any other authorized customer are punctual, precise, and accurately reported to the supervisor.
- Main responsibility for oil products and other Company assets at the depot location.
- Make sure product losses stay within accepted limits.
- Deliver enhanced management in efficient inventory control to minimize losses and ensure quality services for GFGL Tarkwa and any other clients designated by your supervisor.
- Guarantee the correct assessment, documentation, observation, and communication of precise inventories and incidents each day.
- Maintain suitable and effective housekeeping procedures consistently and document them.
- Might need to assist, support, or work at any other TEMG mining depot as necessary.

Candidate Profile
- A minimum requirement of a solid first Degree / Bachelor’s in Technology in Engineering, Marketing, Procurement, Supply Chain, and similar areas
- A solid understanding of the Oil and Mining sectors.
- Outstanding team collaborator with strong communication abilities.
- An advanced capacity for analysis
- Capacity to perform under tight schedules and adhere to established deadlines
- At least three years in a comparable position.
