Do you worry that your age may hinder your success in the Canadian job market?
Are you in your 40s or 50s and worried that this might make it harder for you to find a job in Canada?
Don’t worry. From what we have seen, age doesn’t seem to matter in Canada. Some businesses even prefer to hire people who are older.
Instead of worrying about your age, which you can’t change and makes you a victim, focus on other parts of your profile that you can control.
For instance, these things are more important than your age:
Whether you have an open, forward-thinking mind or a rigid one. If you keep learning new things and getting better, If you are willing to share your information with others and learn from them, even if they are younger professionals. Everyone can teach and learn from everyone else.
TIPS: Your age and date of birth don’t even have to be on your resume. You also don’t have to talk about work you did more than 5–10 years ago.
