3. Customer Service – Donor Support Technician
Principal Responsibilities
- Get the apheresis machine ready for the pheresis procedure.
- Keeps an eye on the donor and the pheresis process, and responds to any alarms or signals that may arise throughout the procedure.
- When the process is finished, disconnect the donor.
- Remains awake and aware of any reaction the donor may have during or after the pheresis process and alerts necessary staff.
- Uses a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) to record pheresis-related incidents such as machine alerts and alarms, volume variations, and donor adverse events.
- Uses PDA to connect pheresis equipment and soft items to the proper donor.
- Notifies the Group Leader or Supervisor of any donation flow difficulties.
- Ensures that donor data is accurately recorded in the computerized donor information management system in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Understand the policies and procedures linked with the center’s hyperimmune programs, if applicable.
- Maintains a clean and efficient work environment, as well as sufficient operating supplies and paperwork as needed. All Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures must be followed.
- Encourages safety in all actions.
- Keeps all personnel, donor, and center information private.
- May be cross-trained in other areas to fulfill corporate needs.
