Canada Express Entry 2024: New ITAs with LOW CRS Score Required

975 Express Entry applicants are invited to the IRCC’s inaugural Transport Occupation draw in 2024. Welcome to our coverage of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada’s most recent Express Entry lottery for 2024, in which 975 individuals with a background in transportation-related jobs were asked to apply for permanent residence.

An excellent chance for skilled people looking to enter Canada through the Express Entry system is presented by this draw. We’ll go into the specifics of the draw and talk about its ramifications for potential applicants in this piece.

Transport Occupation Draw 2024

Applications for the second Express Entry draw of this week have been issued (NVTs) by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). To apply for a category-based draw for transport vocations, the government issued 975 NVT. A minimum score of 430 on the overall ranking system was required of candidates.

ITAs were also issued by IRCC on March 12. A general draw was held, with 20,850 individuals invited. The CRS serves as the primary qualifying criterion for a general draw, which takes applicants from all three Express Entry administered programs into account. The minimum CRS for candidates was 525, which is the lowest minimum CRS for a general draw this year and a fall of 9 CRS points from the previous general draw on February 28.

February 2024 Express Entry Draws

In February, six draws invited 11,110 contestants. With category-based selection draws for people with high proficiency in French, the month began and ended. First, on February 1st, 7,000 individuals with a minimum CRS score of 365 were invited.

The second, which was held on February 29th, was open to 2,500 applicants and required a minimum score of 336—the lowest CRS score in any draw this year. Two more category-based draws were held for the remaining four lotteries. 3,500 candidates in healthcare occupations with a minimum RS of 422 were invited to one on February 14. The other took place on February 16th and was open to 150 applicants working in the agricultural and food industries. A minimum score of 437 was required.

Lastly, in February, the IRCC conducted two general Express Entry draws. With a minimum score of 535, the department welcomed 1,490 candidates on February 13 and 1,470 candidates on February 28. The CRS score for these candidates was at least 534.

Category-Based Selection

Target Express Entry candidates with particular in-demand qualities are drawn through category-based selection, as opposed to a general draw where candidates are evaluated from all Express Entry managed programs based just on their CRS score.

This kind of draw was made available in May 2023 to address the labor shortages in certain important areas of the Canadian workforce. Candidates who meet the requirements for Express Entry may be issued an ITA under one of six categories.

  1. Healthcare occupations
  2. Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) professions
  3. Trades occupations such as Carpenters, plumbers, and contractors
  4. Transport occupations
  5. Agriculture and Agri-food occupations
  6. Strong French proficiency

Candidates who are already in the Express Entry application pool may benefit from these drawings. The average CRS score for category-based draws this year has been lower than the average for general draws. For instance, out of the four draws for category-based selection, the minimum CRS score with the highest value was 437, while the lowest was 336. Conversely, no General draw in 2024 has had a minimum CRS of less than 534 thus far.

What is Express Entry?

The Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Canadian Experience Class, and the Federal Skilled Trades Program are the three most well-known economic immigration programs in Canada. Express Entry is the application management system for these programs. After determining for themselves if they qualify for any of these programs, candidates can upload their profiles to the IRCC website to obtain their comprehensive ranking system score.

Human capital factors like age, language proficiency, occupation, education, and job experience are scored by the CRS. Based on their CRS scores, applicants are ranked against one another in the Express Entry application pool. The best scores indicate the likelihood of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for status as a permanent resident. A candidate has sixty days from the moment they get an ITA to submit their completed application to the IRCC.

Conclusion

For experienced individuals wishing to relocate to Canada, the recent Express Entry draw that sought applicants with prior expertise in transportation-related sectors offers a substantial opportunity. Now is the ideal time to think about applying to the Express Entry program if you meet the requirements and have relevant experience working in the transportation industry.
