Braiding Seeds Fellowship 2026 | Call for Applications
Applications are open for the Braiding Seeds Fellowship’s next cohort. Soul Fire Farm Institute supports BIPOC beginning farmers across the US. Ten fellows receive an 18-month stipend plus dedicated mentorship. Twelve additional applicants receive smaller seed grants instead.

About the Fellowship
This fellowship carries forward the legacy of Black and Indigenous land stewardship. It links returning and legacy generations of farmers across regions. Fellows dedicate significant weekly hours to their farm during the growing season. The application actively welcomes authentic, non-polished storytelling.
What Fellows Receive
Fellows receive a $50,000 stipend across the eighteen-month program. Professional development includes workshops, business planning, and individualized coaching. Cohort gatherings build lasting peer relationships among fellow farmers. Seed grant recipients instead receive $2,500 for related project costs.
Who Can Apply
Applicants must identify as Black, Indigenous, or a person of color. Beginning farmers with one to three years of experience qualify. Candidates must be at least 18 years old to apply. Only one application per individual will be considered.
Required Materials
Applicants submit three references, a personal photo, and a project photo. One recommendation letter and a detailed budget are also required. Only original applicant voice and storytelling are welcomed, not AI-polished text.
