POSITION: Branch Managers

Position Summary

The Branch Manager will oversee the efficient management of records, as well as cash and banking operations at the branch.

PRIMARY DUTIES

Group related:

  • Organize the acceptance of members into groups following preliminary evaluation from the survey of potential microfinance program borrowers.
  • Proclaim the official establishment of the group via the orientation program.
  • Permit 15-30 prospective borrowers for group membership.
  • Make certain to gather daily installments as per the collection timetable.
  • Supervise no fewer than two group meetings each day and balance passbooks.
  • After a period of 6 months, all members’ passbooks must be aligned with the collection sheet.

Target Plan related:

  • Create a target plan for the branch at the start of the year (including groups, members, borrower disbursement, overdue accounts, etc.
  • Create an annual target strategy with a monthly allocation for credit officers.
  • Oversee the activities in alignment with the objective plans.

Accounts associated;

  • Create weekly cash requests for loan distribution and other expenses.
  • Secure bank funds for financial spending as per daily requests.
  • Review and endorse the cash ledger, bank ledger, DCR, cashbook, cash certificate, and all bill vouchers following verification at the close of the day.
  • Document any discrepancies discovered in cash handling.

Administrative;

  • Simplify employee leave, transfers, etc.
  • Ensure the protection of DCR, cash ledgers, essential loan documents, circulars, minutes from monthly meetings, bill vouchers, collection sheets, passbooks, certificates, attendance logs, leave application forms, leave registers, movement records, etc.
  • Keep the office campus, furniture, stationery, and other fixed assets tidy and clean.
  • Establish a supportive atmosphere for all employees working in the office.
  • Enhance connections with local authorities.
  • Guarantee an overarching supervisory function for all program/project transitions and personnel in the branch.
  • Provide improved and faster service to external parties (e.g. neighbors, government, other organizations, etc.)
  • Ensure staff office attendance according to BGSL’s guidelines.

Employee growth:

  • Hold a weekly staff meeting each Friday for one hour to discuss goals, accomplishments, and more.
  • Recognize underperforming and nonperforming Credit Officers alongside effective ones and provide them with appropriate guidance.
  • Pay attention to staff challenges and assist in resolving them.
  • Enhance the skills of staff through mentoring, coaching, and counseling.
  • Relating to client satisfaction and management of outcomes:
  • Ensure that COs and other MF personnel follow the code of conduct for Microfinance employees.
  • Aim to deliver top-notch service to customers, both in the field and at the branch location.
  • Address client complaints/concerns/opinions thoroughly and implement necessary actions.
  • Examine the client’s poverty profile and geographic focus to verify that client targeting corresponds with BRAC’s mission.
  • Periodically assess client-level results/data and suggest action plans.

Reporting:

  • Compile daily, weekly, and monthly reports needed by management on time.
  • Examine monthly trends and daily performance reports of the Credit Officers.
  • Timely share monitoring and audit reports.
  • Keep and revise the risk register for presentation to the area manager.
  • Guarantee an impartial allocation of 12-15 groups to each Credit Officer for MF and 15 groups for the AGF program.

Required Skills or Experience

SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION

  • Degree: A bachelor’s degree focused on Business Administration, Banking and Finance, Accounting, or any similar field.
  • Focus / Specialization: Business Management, Financial Services, Accounting etc.

PROFESSIONAL DEGREE / CERTIFICATION

  • A professional certification in the area is an advantage.

EXPERIENCE (Covering sector/industry)

  • Transactions related to cash and banks
  • Preparation of cash requests, cash vouchers, and bank reconciliation reports.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a similar position.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Skilled in MS Word, MS Excel, and online navigation.
  • Proficient communication abilities; Writing and reporting proficiency in English
