POSITION: Logistics Specialist
Position Overview
- The Logistics Specialist will be essential for guaranteeing the smooth transportation of goods and materials by finding, assessing, and overseeing vehicle suppliers in Kumasi.
- The position assists the transportation and purchasing teams by enhancing logistics functions, lowering expenses, and guaranteeing dependable supply chain processes for the manufacturing sector.
Main Duties
- Locate, assess, and build connections with trustworthy vehicle providers in Kumasi.
- Discuss contracts, pricing, and service agreements with transport providers.
- Keep a record of favored suppliers to guarantee competitive service provision.
- Manage the prompt delivery of raw materials and completed products.
- Track vendor performance to verify adherence to delivery timelines, quality, and safety requirements.
- Monitor and assess transportation expenses, recommending cost-reduction strategies.
- Verify adherence to local transportation and purchasing laws.
- Support in acquiring and leasing vehicles according to departmental requirements.
- Work together with the procurement team to synchronize vehicle acquisition with manufacturing needs.
- Check invoices, delivery notes, and associated supplier paperwork prior to processing payments.
- Suggest enhancements to logistics systems and supplier management procedures.
- Create and update logistics reports, encompassing supplier assessments and expense evaluations.
- Assist the department in achieving efficiency, managing costs, and meeting service-level goals.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Management, or a related area
- 1–3 years of experience in procurement, logistics, or supply chain management (ideally within manufacturing).
- Demonstrated expertise in supplier identification and vendor oversight.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical abilities.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); familiarity with ERP systems is beneficial.
- Understanding of transportation operations and supplier networks in Kumasi.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Capability to function both autonomously and as part of a team in a dynamic setting.
- Focused on details with abilities in problem-solving and making decisions.
- Excellent interpersonal abilities that facilitate the development of enduring supplier connections.
- Previous experience in procurement or logistics is extremely beneficial.
