POSITION: Coordinator, Client Services – Kumasi

IJM Ghana collaborates with Ghanaian governmental bodies to combat human trafficking by rescuing victims, holding offenders accountable, helping survivors regain safety and resilience, and assisting public justice entities to enhance systems that safeguard the vulnerable

Job Summary

For more than 25 years, IJM has led efforts to safeguard vulnerable individuals from violence. In every instance over the past ten years, IJM’s Justice System Strengthening Projects have decreased slavery and violence by 50 to 85% for substantial groups of individuals living in poverty. As we strive to increase our influence in safeguarding 500 million individuals from violence, we are looking for a skilled social worker to join the Kumasi team, aiding in psycho-social services for trafficking survivors and their main caregivers. This is a full-time role that requires regular travel to various areas in Ghana.

This role is located in Kumasi, Ghana, and reports directly to the Senior Manager for Kumasi Projects.

Duties:

  • Collaborate with government partners to deliver urgent crisis assistance, support, and evaluations for individuals emerging from trafficking circumstances, ensuring that all victims obtain the legal protections mandated by the government.
  • Conduct thorough evaluations, develop treatment strategies, and execute services aimed at the secure reuniting and recovery of the survivor, adhering to optimal practice guidelines;
  • Involve, equip, and assist victims and witnesses during legal processes in collaboration with diverse teams of advocates and support professionals;
  • Cultivate strong, reliable partnerships with justice system representatives, social service workers, and various stakeholders at both regional and national levels;
  • Create and provide top-notch professional training programs to diverse stakeholders on optimal approaches in trauma-informed case management and service delivery;
  • Facilitate collaborative training initiatives with law enforcement, judicial systems, and social services on trauma-informed and survivor-centric approaches for trafficking survivors;
  • Offer guidance and assistance to social welfare agents and justice officials to guarantee that trafficking survivors receive trauma-informed care and support for their recovery.
  • Carefully record and track the delivery of services and the advancement of survivors in IJM’s internal electronic database, along with any other necessary reports;
  • Accurately document and assess trafficking cases to aid in the effective reform of the Justice System and enhance capacity-building initiatives; and
  • Perform extra tasks as requested by the Director of Anti-Trafficking Projects.

Qualifications Required

  • A master’s degree in psychology or social work is preferred.
  • At least two years of pertinent experience in delivering case management services, performing psychosocial evaluations, and interventions;
  • Extensive experience in assisting vulnerable populations or trauma survivors and delivering psychosocial support services;
  • Capability to deliver service interventions in a trauma-sensitive way;
  • Outstanding interpersonal abilities, collaborators, and client groups benefiting from services;
  • Expertise in establishing cooperative relationships with other social service organizations;
  • Skilled in using computers with expertise in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel;
  • Outstanding proficiency in both written and spoken English; and
  • Fluency in Ewe, Dangme, and Twi is desirable.
