About the Group:
Sustainable Programmes Department (SPD) of WaterAid Ghana. This division offers strategic and technical support to achieve WAG’s program goals. The UAPT is dedicated to creating and executing initiatives that meet the highest standards, with a specific goal of greatly improving the welfare of the disadvantaged and at-risk populations. This commitment aligns perfectly with WaterAid’s overarching goal for Aim 1, guaranteeing significant health results through universal access to WASH.
About the Position:
The Project Assistant acts as an essential connection between WaterAid’s strategic goals and the effective execution of community-based project activities, all within the framework of achieving universal access to sustainable WASH in the Bongo district. The position highlights the importance of collaborating with partners, communities, and stakeholders to design, implement, and track initiatives that are consistent with WaterAid’s Programme Quality Standards, Project Management Standards, and Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) frameworks.
In this, you shall;
Planning and Executing Projects
- Create and execute work plans to meet project milestones on schedule.
- Designing and executing training initiatives focused on particular project themes, which involves gathering training resources, developing guidelines and manuals, and assembling training reports.
- Draft terms of reference and requests for activity funds to ensure efficient and prompt execution of project tasks.
- Delivery and distribution.
Participant Involvement
- Organize and lead community engagement events, such as coordinating community gatherings and guiding conversations when needed.
- Organize and lead coordination meetings with partners, donors, government bodies, and other stakeholders to guarantee effective project execution, knowledge sharing, and reporting.
Interaction and Promotion
- Facilitate efficient communication among the project team, implementing partners, and community members, guaranteeing prompt information distribution to enhance community involvement and support systems.
- Assist in the design and execution of awareness-raising and advocacy campaigns at the community, sub-district, and district levels.
Oversight, Assessment, Responsibility, and Knowledge Acquisition (OARK)
- Aid grassroots monitoring and evaluation initiatives by partnering with others to assess project experiences, tackle obstacles, and create practical solutions.
- Promote accountability by involving community members and stakeholders, recording their input, and making sure that issues are resolved effectively.
- Help guarantee that MEAL systems adhere to PMER Core Procedures and fulfill donor expectations.
Requirements
For success, you will require:
- A university degree or professional certification in a pertinent area like public health, social sciences, project management, or development studies.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in project planning, development, and management, encompassing a thorough knowledge of project lifecycle stages, tools, and procedures.
- Show comprehension of the Water and Sanitation for Health Facility Improvement Tool (WASH FIT), Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), and Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) principles and methodologies.
- Competencies in training development and delivery, utilizing adult learning principles to improve partner skills.
Skills that are sought after:
- Expertise in community management, promoting the connection between water supply, sanitation, hygiene, and wider development efforts.
- Proven experience in advocacy, emphasizing Human Rights-oriented, pro-poor strategies and advancing equity and inclusion in development initiatives.
- Experience collaborating with a donor organization, NGO, civil society, or the private sector.
- Understanding gender, equity, and social inclusion (GESI) in WASH by incorporating these viewpoints into development initiatives to improve program quality
