About the University of California African Legal Impact LL.M Scholarship

This is a scholarship program designed by the University of California to help African students seeking to study advanced legal education. Lgel funding awarded to only two excellent candiadates every year. This is as a result of limited funding.

ELEGIBILITY CRITERIA

• Firstly, applicants must be citizens or have permanent residence in Africa
• Also, applicants must submit a Statement of Intention describing what the scholarship recipient plans on accomplishing in Africa after graduating from the LL.M. professional track
• Moreover, scholarship is on merit basis
• Lastly, applicants must be admitted to the LL.M. professional track program before they can apply for this scholarship. Afterward, scholarship application instructions will be provided to eligible admitted students.
• Successful candidates must keep a minimum grade standard of ‘P’ (pass) or higher in all classes during the first semester. Afterward, applicants will be able to maintain scholarship eligibility during the second semester.

Value The Scholarship: 

This is a full-tuition waiver scholarship. Succesful applicants will be responsible for paying only the $1,000 seat deposit, in addition to travel and living expenses.

The scholarship program will last for 1 year.

How to Apply 

• Firstly, November 1st for option A (spring start)
• Secondly, December 18th for option B (summer start)
• Thirdly, transcripts and letters of recommendation should be sent to LSAC well in advance in order to allow time for processing.
