CLOGSAG neutrality allowance
The government of Ghana has made a request to extend the time to decide on the CLOGSAG political neutrality allowance.
During a meeting with all stakeholders involved in the matter, the government requested a postponement of the day for making the final decision.
Bright Wireko Brobbey, the Deputy Minister for Labour says that the final decision will be made tomorrow.
According to him, they have not come to conclusion about the discussions yet. Hence, they have requested an extension of time. Therefore they are hoping by Friday, they will be done. Discussions are ongoing between both parties: notably the government and CLOGSAG.
STATEMENT FROM The Executive Secretary of CLOGSAG
On the other hand, Mr Isaac Bampoe Addo, the Executive Secretary of CLOGSAG insist that they will not call off the strike. He stated emphatically that, the strike will not be called off until the issue at hand is solved.
According to him, he is hoping that the two parties involved will come into agreement coming Friday. Mr Isaac Bampoe Addo also highlighted that their members are bleeding.
But, the National Labour Commission has instructed CLOGSAG to return to work. Whiles the Ministry of Finance make preparation to pay the allowances. Mr Ofosu Asamoah stated that they are waiting for the Ministry of Finance to direct Controller and Accountant General to make payments.
The Executive Secretary of NLC also indicated that the Finance Minister was not in town. However, he is abreast of all discussions. Therefore, the Finance Minister will hold a discussion with the cabinet of the President to direct the Controller to effect payment.
The Neutrality Allowance request by CLOGSAG has generated a lot of discussions. Some are in favour whiles others disagree.
