Job Title: Customer Service Engineer
Location: Field-Based, Ghana
Reporting to: Senior Customer Service Engineer

Job Description

Plato Consult seeks a skilled Customer Service Engineer to deploy and maintain critical last-mile connectivity solutions. This field-based technical role offers hands-on opportunities to expand broadband access across Ghana while developing expertise in fiber, copper, and wireless network technologies.

Role Overview

As a Customer Service Engineer, you will install, maintain, and troubleshoot fixed voice and broadband connections for business and residential customers. Working directly with clients at their premises, you will ensure reliable service delivery while maintaining the highest standards of workmanship and safety compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Field Operations & Service Delivery

Install and maintain last-mile connectivity using copper, fiber, and radio technologies
Configure and test line drivers, modems, routers, and customer-end equipment
Execute surveyed installations and repair jobs following service order specifications
Validate customer availability before dispatching to service locations

Technical Implementation & Documentation

Update job status with accurate resolution codes using mobile job management systems
Maintain network data records following each service completion
Obtain customer sign-off for all field work activities
Ensure strict compliance with organizational safety protocols

Equipment & Network Management

Troubleshoot connectivity issues across diverse network architectures
Implement basic PABX configurations as required
Support point-to-point and point-to-multipoint connectivity solutions
Maintain company vehicles and field equipment in optimal condition

Qualifications and Experience

Technical Requirements:

Electronics & Electrical Engineering Part II certification or equivalent qualification
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Hands-on experience with IP networks and telecommunications infrastructure
Understanding of IP/MPLS VPN technologies and last-mile implementation
Basic IT skills and equipment configuration capabilities

Preferred Qualifications:

CCNA certification or progress toward completion
Experience with WAN design and data service implementation
Knowledge of wireless connectivity solutions
