POSITION: Senior Customer Portfolio Manager

GE Vernova is seeking a Senior Customer Portfolio Manager to join our Gas Power Services team for the SSA region. Your Mission: Own Customer Relationships and Contract Performance

You will take full ownership of the customer relationship while meeting internal GE Vernova objectives. Your focus will span the entire lifecycle of Long-Term Service Agreements, from contract execution through opportunity identification. You will manage P&L responsibilities, monitor contract profitability, and coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional service. Your success will be measured by your ability to build trust, drive results, and uncover new opportunities for growth.

Key Responsibilities

Your role spans contract management, customer engagement, operational coordination, and business development. Here is what you will tackle:

Contract & Financial Management

  • You will manage the full cycle of Long-Term Service Agreements and services contracts, ensuring seamless execution from start to finish.
  • Managing P&L responsibility for assigned contracts means you own the numbers. You will monitor contract profitability, control costs, and recognize revenue accurately.
  • Developing and implementing strategies to improve contract margins demonstrates your commercial mindset.

Customer Relationship & Partnership

  • Acting as the primary point of contact at operational and contractual levels positions you as the trusted advisor your customer needs.
  • Supporting customers during planned, unplanned, and forced unit outages requires calm under pressure and decisive action.
  • Building strong partnerships within the value chain organization ensures high quality service delivery across all touchpoints.

Operational Excellence & Performance Monitoring

  • Monitoring performance indicators such as covered units availability, reliability, and heat rate keeps you focused on what matters most to customers.
  • Coordinating with engineering, field service, parts supply, and outage management teams ensures successful delivery of services.
  • Maintaining unit operating history and parts life history on commercially available software creates valuable institutional knowledge.
  • Keeping records of parts by model and serial number currently installed in each unit supports operational planning.

Business Development & Opportunity Identification

  • Identifying opportunities for additional services, upgrades, or scope extensions grows the relationship beyond existing agreements.
  • Developing a sales plan for each customer aligns your efforts with their evolving needs.
  • Ordering, tracking, and validating billing for major and minor maintenance parts and services requested by the customer ensures financial accuracy.
  • Providing information and support to Sales regarding the latest advancements in conversion, modification, and upgrade opportunities fuels new business.

Strategic Collaboration

  • Interfacing with Sales, Commercial, and Risk teams for new customer opportunities keeps the broader organization aligned.
  • Developing and maintaining an understanding of power plant or machine driven industries keeps your knowledge current and relevant.

What You Bring to the Role

We are looking for a candidate with the right education, extensive experience, and strong technical and commercial skills. Here is what you need:

Education

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or Power Engineering from an accredited university or college.

Experience

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in power generation services or power plant operations.
  • Knowledge of gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, and power plant systems with at least 5 years of direct experience.
  • Strong contractual, commercial, and negotiation skills built through years of practical application.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in project management.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.

Desired Characteristics

  • 9E Gas Turbine, GE Steam Turbine, and Balance of Plant (BOP) knowledge gives you a competitive edge.
  • Familiarity with long-term parts and services contracts.
  • Sales experience with direct customer interface.
  • Graduate of Contractual Services Leadership Program or similar experience.
  • High level communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with computer tools.
  • Strong business and financial skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect across functions.
  • Technically savvy while possessing strong business acumen and the ability to drive overall solutions to meet customer needs.
