POSITION: Physician Assistant

Job Purpose
The Physician Assistant will support the hospital’s healthcare delivery system by providing comprehensive primary care services under professional supervision. In addition, the role focuses on improving access to quality treatment while promoting equity in healthcare coverage.
Role Overview
As part of the clinical team, you will assess patients, implement treatment plans, and collaborate with multidisciplinary professionals to ensure effective care. Furthermore, you will actively monitor patient progress and adjust care strategies when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
You will handle a wide range of patient-care activities, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning. Specifically, your responsibilities include:
- Evaluate and prioritize patients based on urgency and medical needs
- Conduct confidential consultations, including:
- Detailed history taking
- Physical assessment
- Clinical diagnosis
- Develop and implement patient care plans
- Maintain accurate and well-organized medical records
- Assist with emergency interventions and therapies
- Support minor surgical procedures such as:
- Incision and drainage of boils
- Suturing of wounds
- Wound dressing and aftercare
- Participate actively in:
- Ward rounds
- Clinical review meetings
- Morbidity and mortality discussions
- Staff meetings
- Provide primary care for patients with mental health concerns and refer complex cases appropriately
Additionally, you may occasionally provide relief services at affiliated health centers when operational needs arise.
Community Health Engagement
Beyond hospital-based care, you will support outreach programs that strengthen community health awareness. For example, you will:
- Participate in community health outreach initiatives
- Promote maternal and child health programs
- Support family planning education and public health campaigns
- Assist in collecting epidemiological and health data for reporting
Through these activities, you will help expand preventive healthcare efforts across the hospital’s catchment area.
Communication and Team Collaboration
Strong communication drives effective healthcare delivery. Therefore, you will:
- Maintain clear communication with colleagues and patients
- Also, share updates on health programs with staff and clients
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and professional conferences
- Then, promote patient safety and overall wellbeing at all times

Requirements and Skills
