2023 University of Alberta Postgraduate Scholarships & Awards
Over 37,000 students are enrolled in more than 370 graduate and undergraduate programs across 18 faculties at the University of Alberta, a diversified multi-campus university that offers a lively and supportive learning and research environment.
With ties to its many sponsors and funding levels, the university offers a variety of awards and scholarships. For students enrolled full-time in MSc or Ph.D. programs at the institution that demands a thesis, scholarships are provided as a supplement to the stipend.
Information Regarding The Scholarship Program
The funding for the awards, scholarships, and prizes given to deserving candidates comes from a number of sources, including the governments of Canada and Alberta as well as the generosity of the university’s numerous sponsors. Certain prizes are only given to certain programs.
You can look into the various scholarship opportunities the University of Alberta has to offer. The Graduate Scholarship Committee (GSC), a permanent committee of the FGSR Council, decides on all award contests. Each year, FGSR awards $29 million in scholarships.
Eligibility Prerequisites
- The student must be enrolled full-time in a thesis-based graduate program at the institution or be applying to one.
- Students in the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry’s Medical Sciences Graduate Program (MSc or Ph.D.) should be in one of the following departments:
Dentistry, laboratory medicine & pathology, medical genetics, obstetrics & gynecology, ophthalmology & visual sciences, pediatrics, radiology & diagnostic imaging, anesthesia & pain management, and dentistry.
- The student is permitted to receive this honor more than once.
- The award will be revoked if the student completes their program or stops registering full-time.
Language Requirements in English:
If English is not your first language, you will need to demonstrate that your proficiency in the language is sufficient for academic success.
