The Cooke Foundation College Scholarship Program for Foreign Students is now accepting applications from motivated, qualified students who have financial difficulties and aspire to enroll in and graduate from the nation’s top four-year colleges and universities.

Each award is intended to cover a significant percentage of the student’s educational expenditures, including tuition, living costs, books, and required fees. Grants vary from recipient to recipient based on the cost of tuition as well as any other grants or scholarships to which the recipient may be entitled.

The Cooke Foundation College Scholarship Program is the largest undergraduate scholarship program accessible to high-achieving high school graduates with financial needs who aspire to enroll in the top four-year colleges and universities in the nation.

In addition to receiving a monetary award, Cooke Scholars also gain access to extensive cohort-based programming, in-depth academic counseling, graduate school support, a thriving network of about 3,200 other Cooke Students, and alumni help.

Eligibility Requirements

In order to qualify for the Cooke Foundation College Scholarship Program for International Students, applicants must fulfill the requirements listed below:

  • Candidates must be international college students.
  • Senior standing: Plan to graduate from a high school in the United States in the spring of 2024.
  • Fall College Enrollment – Plan to enroll at a four-year college that is accredited starting in the fall of 2024.
  • GPA – Achieve a cumulative unweighted GPA of at least 3.5.
  • We would accept candidates with family yearly gross incomes up to $95,000 if they can demonstrate an unmet financial need. The Foundation will carry out a thorough financial analysis of the student and the student’s parent’s income and assets as part of the selection process.

Qualification

1. May I take a year off?

The Cooke College Scholarship Program does not accept high school graduates who take a gap year after graduation. Applicants must apply during their senior year of high school. Pending approval from their institution or university, some students can postpone receiving cash for a year after earning the scholarship.

2 . What financial details must be provided on the application?

Your family’s adjusted gross income (AGI), as shown on your federal tax return for the previous three years, must be disclosed. You must submit projected income for each year as well as an explanation if your household did not file taxes for whatever reason.

3. Do I have to go to college in the United States?

No, you are not required to go to college in the United States, but in order to seek a baccalaureate degree, you must enroll in a four-year school that is fully accredited.

4. Am I qualified to submit an application for the Cooke College Scholarship Program?

You must meet the following requirements to be eligible to apply for the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation College Scholarship Program:

Obtain a cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.5 or above. Demonstrate unmet financial need. Graduate from a U.S. high school in the spring of 2024. 5. Am I still qualified to apply if I was homeschooled?

Yes, applicants who are homeschooled are eligible.

We strongly advise you to ask for your two recommendations from teachers other than your parents, such as a professor from any dual-enrollment college courses, a tutor, the local librarian with whom you have regularly discussed books, or a researcher in whose lab you have worked.

6. Am I qualified to apply if I have a learning disability that has been identified?

You are qualified to apply if you satisfy or surpass the other requirements for selection.

7. Am I still qualified to apply if I have a GED?

No, you are not qualified to apply for the Cooke College Scholarship Program if you have a GED.

8 . Must I be a citizen of the United States to apply?

No. However, you must live in the United States or a U.S. territory and finish high school there. The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation does not currently offer services to high school students who study abroad in the United States.

9. Are there any limitations on what subjects recipients of Cooke College Scholarships may study?

You are able to obtain a baccalaureate degree in any area of study that interests you. Non-degree programs, however, are not accepted.

10. Why did the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation invite me to apply for the College Scholarship Program when my family’s income disqualifies me from doing so?

The College Board sends us the names and addresses of kids who performed well on the PSAT or SAT. Because they performed very well on their standardized examinations and marked the box indicating that they would like to hear about scholarship opportunities, many students receive our message as a result.

The College Board does not disclose the household income of students, which means that some of the students who receive our mailing may not qualify financially for the Cooke College Scholarship Program.

11. Am I qualified to apply if I’m already enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program?

No, you cannot be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree at the time of application. You must be a current senior in high school planning to enroll full-time in an accredited four-year institution in the fall after graduation.

Application Process

1 . How should I submit my recommendations?

Submit all recommendations online through the Common App.

To add a recommender, including both teachers and counselors, go to the Recommenders and FERPA section, click the Invite Recommenders button, select the type of recommender, and type in their email address and name in the appropriate fields.

2 . How do I know if my application is complete?

The Common App system will not allow you to submit an incomplete application.

You will receive an email confirmation from Common App once they have submitted your application. If you do not receive this email, you can log in to your application account and click the “Submit Application” tab.
