- Candidates must be between the ages of 18 and 29 as of August 1 of the year they enroll in the program in order to be considered for the Schwarzman Scholars Program.
- Those who are applying must have finished all of their undergraduate degree requirements prior to August 1st if they are presently pursuing one.
- There are no criteria for the undergraduate study field; candidates from all fields are encouraged to apply.
- English language proficiency can be proven by receiving a minimum TOEFL PBT score of 600, a minimum TOEFL iBT score of 100, or an IELTS minimum score of 7.
- Applicants may opt out of this requirement by submitting an English proficiency certificate if they have at least two years of undergraduate study experience in a setting where English is the predominant language of instruction.
