WATCH | Hearts-Kotoko match called off due to soggy nature of pitch
The 2019 President’s Cup match between Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak has been called off due to the soggy nature of the pitch.
Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak are the two main giant teams in Ghana. Whenever there is a football game between this two sides, it is mostly described as the clash of the titans.
Due to the investigation done by Anas Aremeyaw Anas, football activities have seized in the country Ghana.
Kotoko in recent times has being involved in an active football since then. Last year, Kotoko was part of the CAF Confederation Cup. This season, they are taking part in the CAF Champions league competition. The last football match they played was against Kano Pillars at Baba Yara Stadium.
Accra Hearts of Oak recent football activities
Accra Hearts of Oak on the other hand is yet to play active football since there is no active football currently going on in the country.
The last meeting between these two giants happened some months back when the match ended on a draw. Kotoko proceeded to win the match on penalty shootout.
This result stroked a huge argument on who was reigning in the country now. The last four meetings between Accra Hearts of Oak (Phobia) and Kumasi Asante Kotoko (Fabulous) haven’t been well for the Phobia boys.
The all heated match was supposed to be played on Sunday 8th September, 2019. On this faithful day, it rained from around 11 am to 12 pm. The continuing drizzling around Kumasi and its environs made it difficult for even fans to be in the stadium.
After the match has been played for 10 minutes, some dignitaries went to the pitch to inspect it.
The very poor pitch conditions could not withstand a heavy downpour. Grounds were all wet and soft making it more impossible to play on.
