REQUIREMENTS FOR A VOLUNTEER WORK VISA / PERMIT IN THE FAROE ISLANDS

Technically, a Faroese visa exists (albeit it is not valid for visiting Denmark), but the Faroe Islands have an open border with the Schengen Area, therefore in fact, all you need is a Schengen Area permit to travel on the Faroe Islands.
With a national ID card, any Nordic citizen can enter the Faroe Islands and stay for as long as they like. Click here for additional information. The same is true for all EU citizens, who are already part of the Schengen Area.
Citizens of the United States, Canada, Mexico, South Korea, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand can only stay in the Schengen Area for 90 days out of every 180 days. This does leave some ambiguity because the Faroe Islands are not formally members of the Schengen Area but have an agreement that eliminates border inspections.
In theory, you might work and travel on the Faroe Islands without extending your permit, but this is against the spirit of the rules. Nobody will check, though, because there is no border control.
Russians, Chinese, and South Africans must apply for a Schengen visa from an embassy before traveling to the Faroe Islands.
SEASONAL BACKPACKER SKILLS NEEDED IN THE FAROE ISLANDS
SPRING WORK
Many people are surprised by how mild the weather is in the Faroe Islands all year. Because of how quickly the weather can change, you can experience all four seasons in a single day.
However, due to the extended daylight hours, spring is a wonderful time to visit the Faroe Islands. Spring temperatures are also moderate, so joining a homestay and working on construction projects should be at the top of your agenda.
SUMMER WORK
Summer is unquestionably the finest time to work and travel in the Faroe Islands. The days are extremely long, and it never gets dark. In June, the days can last up to 19 hours.
