The Role
Within a hospital or community environment, the position holder will perform patient care activities in support of and delegated by the Registered Nurse. The job holder will collect blood samples from patients at the Health Centre, GP practices, and the hospital by venepuncture or capillary method. The job holder will be required to work alone, despite the availability of advice, and to take referrals from a variety of staff, such as GPs, consultants, midwives, and so on.
What you’ll need to bring
- A certification in venepuncture is required.
- An understanding of anatomy and physiology is essential.
- Prior experience is preferred.
- Require rigorous one-on-one supervised training for the first three months, followed by regular skill updates.
- Infection Control rules and practices are well known.
- Manual dexterity is required.
- CPR training must be kept up to date.
2. Spiritual Care and Wellbeing – Trainee Healthcare Chaplain
The Role
An interesting opportunity for Trainee Chaplains has emerged within NHS Lanarkshire Spiritual Care and Wellbeing Service. We are searching for two individuals to fill two positions across NHS Lanarkshire.
The Trainee Chaplain will support patients, families, and employees within NHS Lanarkshire by contributing to the work of Spiritual Care and well-being. The position holders will work as part of a team including Chaplains, Staff Care Specialists, Assistant Practitioners, and volunteers, and will be on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
A planned 24-month program of support education and learning, including formal schooling, will be delivered.
Candidates who are successful will:
- Have a degree and be eligible for the Postgraduate Certificate in Healthcare Chaplaincy.
- Have prior experience giving pastoral care, counseling, or active listening
- You must be able to demonstrate ongoing professional progress.
3. Health Visitor
The Role
The primary role of the Health Visitor (HV) is to serve as the designated named HV for all children on their caseload, from antenatal through school entry age, excluding the unborn child. This necessitates that the HV begin the child’s planning process. To fulfill these tasks, the postholder will be responsible for monitoring the child’s well-being and determining whether or not a need has been identified. They will collaborate with the child’s family and other concerned agencies to develop a child’s plan that will be monitored.

- Post-registration certification in health visiting/public health nursing and registration on Part 3 of the NMC register
