Job Description
TheBoardroom Africa’s Director of Marketing and Communications will implement, manage, and evaluate marketing communications strategy and programs, including advertising, branding, and product promotion initiatives. The Director will also create, develop, and distribute consistent themes and branding across all communications contact points and use the most effective and innovative methods to strengthen TBR Africa’s mission, objectives, credibility, and brand.
Key duties:
- Develop and implement TheBoardroom Africa’s Communications Strategy to accomplish strategic goals;
- Maintain narrative and visual consistency in newsletters, online copy, yearly reports, and quarterly reports;
- Write press releases and media messaging to promote TheBoardroom Africa;
- Create a communication work plan, monitor compliance, and offer support to meet goals;
- Monitor and analyze social media and web content metrics to improve communication strategy, planning, and advocacy;
- Build and maintain a network of journalists and media professionals in press, broadcast, internet, and social media focused on gender equity in Africa, the UK, and the US;
- Support, develop, or manage awareness campaigns for important topics and occasions like International Women’s Day, Africa Day, UN General Assembly, etc.
- Train staff on strategic communications, press interaction, interviews, and public speaking;
- Manage communications associates, interns, writers, editors, designers, illustrators, web developers, videographers, etc.

We need a proven marketing and communications professional. TheBoardroom Africa’s operations are complex, so we need someone who can work quickly and apply the best methods to every situation. Strategic leaders and communications strategists are needed.
Requirements:
- 7–8 years of mid-to-senior-level professional work experience at the national and international levels in strategic communications, digital advocacy and communications, campaigns and strategic plans, and international development partnerships is necessary.
- Communications, journalism, public relations, international development, or related degrees.
- English proficiency (spoken and written). French is advantageous.
- Excellent writing abilities, including the ability to communicate clearly and simply and repackage complicated or technical topics for diverse audiences and platforms;
- Good research, analysis, and detail;
- Strong communications project management skills;
- Experience generating social media posts, articles, and video/audio material;
Organized and able to prioritize duties; - A creative, flexible, self-motivated, and open-minded person;
Good at working alone, in teams, and managing others.
