Etienne’s Career

Etienne Emmanuel Eto’o Fils (born 17 March 1990) is a Cameroonian professional footballer. He last played as a striker for Erste Liga club FC Lustenau in 2012.

Eto’o began his career with Real Mallorca and has also played on loan for S.D. La Salle in 2007, after six months, turned back to Real Mallorca. After several years with RCD Mallorca was released in the summer of 2009. Thereafter, he signed on 1 December 2009 for Gimnàstic de Tarragona, but on 11 January 2010 left his club on loan to CF Pobla de Mafumet.

In August 2011 he signed a one-year contract at FC Lustenau in Austria. During his first appearance, he scored a goal only two minutes after his substitution. In February 2012 he left the club.

Contract with Vitória Guimarães

Etienne Eto’o who is the son of Cameroon, FC Barcelona, and Inter Milan legend Samuel Eto’o has signed a contract with Portuguese outfit Vitoria Guimarães.

The 19-year-old has been given a trial with Vitoria weeks ago. And he convinced the officials who decided to hand him an undisclosed contract with the Under-23 side.

“Vitória Sport Clube announces the signing of Etienne Eto’o, 19, who has joined the Victorian Under-23 team, coached by Luiz Felipe”, the club wrote on their official website.
Etienne Eto’o has been instrumental with the Cameroon U-20 team when they were in Mauritania earlier this year for the AFCON U-20.

He scored a brace including a sensational free-kick against Mozambique on matchday 3 of the group stages to popularise his name around the world.

However, the young Indomitable Lions were beaten on penalties by Ghana (1-1, 2-4) in the quarterfinals. In addition, Eto’o has had stints with Mallorca, Baléares, and Oviedo in the past.

Achievements and Aims

Etienne Eto’o, the son of legendary Cameroonian striker Samuel Eto’o aims at becoming better than his father. The 18-year-old has goal-scoring in his blood just like his father. He demonstrated his striking abilities during the last AFCON U-20 in Mauritania. Etienne scored a world-class free-kick and a penalty with mastery.

However, walking in his father’s footsteps will be difficult as the latter won 3 Champions League titles. He currently has four Africa Footballer of the Year awards. Aside from that, he won many other trophies during his rich career.

But Etienne Eto’o said he will try to emulate his dad as he always supported him since the debut of his career.

“There is always pressure in life whether or not you are the son of a famous person,” Etienne explained, as per Mirror. “But for me, I just try to enjoy my career and demonstrate to people that I can do it.

“My dad has played a huge influence in my life because I have always admired him and want to learn from him and continue in his steps.
