Job Duties

  • Design and operate enterprise-grade observability platforms covering metrics, logs, traces, events, and synthetic monitoring.
  • Architect and manage Prometheus, Thanos, Mimir, Grafana, Loki, Tempo, OpenTelemetry, and Datadog deployments for scalability and high availability.
  • Develop standards for application instrumentation, metric naming, structured logging, and label cardinality management.
  • Define and implement Service Level Objectives (SLOs), Service Level Indicators (SLIs), and error budgets.
  • Build efficient alerting strategies that reduce alert fatigue while integrating with incident management platforms such as PagerDuty and Opsgenie.
  • Manage large-scale time-series databases and log storage platforms while balancing retention, performance, and operational costs.
  • Design distributed tracing solutions to improve application performance and troubleshoot latency issues.
  • Develop self-service observability tools, templates, and libraries for engineering teams.
  • Drive observability cost optimization and telemetry quality improvements across enterprise environments.
  • Enhance incident response readiness through improved dashboards, alerting practices, and post-incident analysis tools.
  • Collaborate with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and platform teams to integrate observability into CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows.
  • Evaluate and recommend observability platforms and monitoring technologies based on organizational needs.
  • Provide technical mentorship on observability best practices, debugging techniques, and SRE principles.
  • Maintain comprehensive platform documentation, onboarding guides, and operational runbooks.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), platform engineering, or observability engineering roles.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Prometheus, Grafana, and commercial observability platforms such as Datadog, New Relic, or Splunk.
  • Solid understanding of OpenTelemetry, distributed tracing, and structured logging.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Go, Python, or Java.
  • Experience managing high-volume metrics, logging, and telemetry pipelines.
  • Strong knowledge of Service Level Objectives (SLOs), error budgets, and SRE best practices.
  • Experience integrating observability platforms with CI/CD pipelines and incident management tools.
  • Strong understanding of Linux systems, networking, and containerized environments.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.
  • Experience with Thanos, Mimir, Cortex, Loki, Tempo, eBPF observability tools, observability cost optimization, or regulated environments is preferred.
