POSITION: Head, Alternative Education Pathways

THE OPPORTUNITY

This position will report to the Director of Secondary Education and TVSD Initiatives.

This position involves overseeing the Alternative Education pathways program sector, aimed at offering educational routes for youth who are not currently enrolled in school. This encompasses the growth of the Foundation’s hallmark blended learning program, Resilience in Secondary Education (RISE), and overseeing the creation and administration of a forthcoming range of alternative education initiatives for youth not in school.

HOW YOU CAN CONTRIBUTE

  • Collaborate closely with other Heads of Secondary Education and TVSD units (Girls Education, Access and Success, and TVSD Initiatives) to aid in the continuous development and evolution of program strategies, as part of the Secondary Education and TVSD Initiatives Leadership team.
  • Supervise and guide the growth of the RISE initiative, working in close partnership with education and workforce development leaders from the Mastercard Foundation Country Team, essential government partners, and executing organizations.
  • Direct the Alternative Education Pathways group in creating and executing RISE programs in countries without a physical presence.
  • Promote efficient collaboration across various functions in the development and execution of program partnerships, emphasizing impact.
  • Monitor advancement, oversee KPIs, and guarantee top-notch execution of Alternative Education Pathways initiatives. Establish objectives and aims for the portfolio while working with the Impact Team to track advancement and guarantee the fulfillment of program goals.
  • Ensure collaboration on EdTech integration among the CITL and Secondary Education and TVSD Initiatives teams.
  • Supervise educational organizations offering technical assistance on MERL at the continental scale.
  • Create and oversee consulting services.
  • Collaborate and exchange knowledge with colleagues within the Education and Transitions team, recognizing and leveraging opportunities for teamwork.
  • Offer continuous guidance, counsel, assistance, and technical support to the Secondary Education and TVSD Initiatives team regarding alternative education programs, support for youth not in school, informal education, and blended learning.
  • Monitor expenses related to team operations and assist in budget forecasting alongside Program Finance departments.
  • Enable interactions, sharing, and education throughout the RISE partner network, including managing the organization and execution of in-person gatherings and online meetings.
  • Identify and attract talent, proficiently guide team members, guarantee work quality, align with Foundation principles, provide access to growth opportunities, and foster a supportive and cooperative workplace.

YOUR IDENTITY

  • A Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree in a pertinent area, such as education, economic development, or a related social science discipline, are mandatory.
  • A pertinent professional credential in program management would be beneficial for this position.
  • Participant in pertinent professional associations and networks
  • A minimum of twelve (12) years of total experience, with at least five (5) years in a supervisory role.
  • Proven track record of creating and leading high-achieving teams in a dynamic, rapid-paced setting.
  • Experience working in diverse cultures and regions, with a background in living and working in Africa, is necessary.
  • Experience and awareness of safeguarding and inclusion issues; delivering programs for women, individuals with disabilities, and/or refugees and displaced youth is highly preferred.
  • Outstanding leadership and oversight abilities, with a proven history of overseeing multi-site and remote teams.
  • Outstanding communication abilities with the capability to convey information to diverse audiences across different cultures.
  • Thorough insight and comprehension of essential challenges, upcoming trends, opportunities, and significant obstacles confronting out-of-school youth in Africa.
  • Outstanding proficiency in the English language. Proficiency in the French language would be a considerable advantage.
  • Outstanding analytical abilities, capacity for strategic thinking, and contribution to shaping the Foundation’s strategy and methodology.
  • Capability and readiness to travel
  • Outstanding capacity to develop productive collaborations with diverse teams.
  • Versatile, adjustable, and capable of performing various tasks and shifting priorities.
  • Exhibit professional maturity, awareness of diverse cultures, and unwavering integrity
