POSITION: Station Manager
ITA Airways, the Italian national airline, is expanding its global footprint. The company is now seeking an experienced Station Manager for its Ground Operations function in Accra, Ghana. This role offers a motivated individual the chance to lead with passion and initiative. You will oversee all flight operations, manage third party suppliers, and protect the airline’s brand image.
What You Will Do
The Station Manager guarantees the correct performance of Ground Handling operations for all ITA flights operating through Accra. You will supervise assistance provided by third parties while contributing to the protection of the company’s image. Pursuing maximum customer satisfaction and efficient resource use will drive your daily decisions.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
Customer Experience and Brand Protection
You will guide the behaviors and actions of supervised resources to protect ITA’s image. Furthermore, you will ensure, supervise, and monitor passenger services throughout the airport experience. Your goal is maximum customer satisfaction at every touchpoint. You will also protect company assets from loss or damage.
Ground Operations Oversight
You will guarantee correct ground handling operations by supervising third party suppliers. Then, you will enforce compliance with quality standards and company manuals for ground operations. Local reference regulations will guide your oversight.
Disruption Management
You will manage disruptions related to passengers and baggage. You will promptly report emerging or sudden critical issues to your hierarchical line. Quick thinking and clear communication will define your success here.
Stakeholder Relations
You will maintain constant relations with local airport authorities, including the airport manager. Also, you will participate in local committees in close coordination with central functions. You will also guarantee the necessary information flow back to headquarters.
Financial and Contract Management
You will ensure compliance with cost levels agreed during planning with competent functions. You will certify services provided by goods and service suppliers within the passive cycle. These suppliers include handling agents, caterers, line maintenance providers, crew transport, and hotac. The Ground Administrative Support function will assist you in this certification. You will also support handling contract negotiations by identifying functional technical specifications for your airport. Sharing the KPI system to be included in contracts and monitoring SLAs completes this responsibility.
Team Leadership and Training
You will ensure integration and coordination with local suppliers through regular briefings. Also, you will manage, motivate, and train the resources entrusted to you. Initial and recurring training falls under your purview. You will also ensure periodic compilation of Turnaround Aircraft Check lists.
Safety and Compliance
You will ensure that locally required or centrally directed health measures receive full implementation. Where appointed, you will serve as Local Safety Representative for airport operations covering both passengers and cargo. This assignment applies only if security management has not expressly entrusted this role to another figure.
Travel Availability
You must maintain availability for duty travel abroad as required.
What You Need to Qualify
Essential Requirements
- Work Authorization: You must hold the right to live and work in Ghana.
- Experience: You need consolidated experience in a similar station management position.
- Language Skills: You must have excellent command of English. Italian language ability is an advantage.
- Systems Knowledge: Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and SAP is an advantage. You must have strong knowledge of Altea DCS.
- Education: Ideally a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Industry Experience: Minimum of 7 years of relevant commercial experience within the travel industry. Aviation experience is ideal.
- Local Knowledge: You need extensive knowledge of the local aviation environment.
- Problem Solving: You must demonstrate systematic and logical approaches to problem solving. You also need capability to work around problems. Good creative and lateral thinking skills are essential.
- Teamwork: You must be a strong team player capable of seeing and understanding the bigger picture.
