POSITION: Full-Stack (NestJS & Next.js) Web Developer

Our headquarters in Ashaley Botwe, Accra, continues to support our traditional business lines, but it’s also the hub of our new, agile tech team. This in-house team is focused on creating a modern digital platform that enables professionals, from educators to independent researchers, to share their work publicly, build credibility, connect with opportunities, and earn income online.

- Salary: Negotiable, based on experience and skill set
- Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
- Experience Level: Mid to Senior
Tech Stack
- Backend: NestJS, TypeScript, Drizzle ORM, PostgreSQL
- Frontend: Next.js
- DevOps: Docker, GitHub Actions (CI/CD)
- Architecture: Modular, microservices-ready, headless design
- Data: REST & GraphQL APIs (aggregated via BFF/Gateway)
Your Responsibilities
- Design and build backend services using NestJS
- Integrate external REST and GraphQL APIs
- Set up scalable, modular architecture from day one
- Build frontend components in Next.js when needed
- Incorporate open-source tools to accelerate development
- Work closely with managers and directors in a fast-paced startup environment
- Take ownership of the platform architecture and long-term growth
- Collaborate on-site with the founding tech team
Note: This is a fully on-site role — remote work is not available.
You Should Have
- Strong expertise in NestJS, TypeScript, and modern API design
- Experience with PostgreSQL and Drizzle ORM
- Familiarity with Docker-based development environments
- A problem-solving mindset and enthusiasm for building innovative solutions
Preferred Extras
- Prior experience in a startup environment
- Interest in education, math, entrepreneurship, or creative platforms
- Knowledge of WebSockets, GraphQL, or payment integrations (e.g., Stripe)
- Previous team lead or project lead experience
Technical Vetting
Instead of a traditional coding interview, you’ll complete a practical project:
- Set up a NestJS service with authentication and PostgreSQL
- Fetch data from provided REST and GraphQL APIs
- Build a simple Next.js frontend to display the data
- Use Drizzle ORM to store sample records
- Containerize the project with Docker and deploy it live
This hands-on test mirrors our actual development workflow.
