POSITION: Mechanical Technician
Job Overview
The Mechanical Technician will handle the installation, upkeep, and repair of machinery and mechanical equipment. The perfect candidate will be essential in reducing equipment downtime and enhancing asset longevity via preventive and corrective maintenance methods.
Main Duties
- Installation and Assembly: Set up new mechanical devices, parts, and systems following blueprints and technical specifications. Put together and evaluate components to confirm they operate properly
- Maintenance and Repair: Conduct regular preventative upkeep on equipment, such as lubricating, cleaning, and replacing parts. Identify mechanical issues and carry out required repairs, including replacing defective parts or modifying components
- Diagnosing: Recognize and resolve problems with mechanical systems utilizing diagnostic instruments and analytical abilities. Evaluate machinery performance and implement modifications to enhance effectiveness and dependability
- Evaluations and Assessments: Perform routine evaluations to verify that all machinery adheres to safety regulations and operational criteria. Examine machinery and parts to ensure they function correctly after installation or repair.
- Record Keeping and Reporting: Keep comprehensive logs of maintenance tasks, repairs, and evaluations. Record the components utilized, time spent, and any problems faced while completing a task.
- Safety Regulations: Follow all organizational safety guidelines and sector standards. Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) properly and uphold a tidy and secure work environment.
Necessary Skills or Experience
- HND/Degree or Vocational Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Technology, or a related discipline.
- Previous experience in a mechanical, maintenance, or repair position (over 2 years preferred).
- A solid grasp of mechanical concepts, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and electrical components.
- Outstanding diagnostic and problem-solving skills to swiftly recognize and address mechanical problems.
- Proficient in utilizing various hand and power tools, along with diagnostic instruments.
- The capability to raise heavy machinery, remain upright for extended durations, and function in multiple physical postures.
- Careful focus on specifics to guarantee precise repairs and secure functioning of machinery.
- Strong communication abilities to convey problems, clarify repairs to supervisors, and collaborate efficiently with team members.
