Tullow presents a thrilling opportunity in the Marine Team. The role is for a Mooring Master, offering a Full-Time Permanent position offshore in Ghana, with a 28/28 rotation schedule.
Purpose of the PositionÂ
The Mooring Master is tasked with guaranteeing the secure, effective, and budget-friendly implementation of export activities in line with the TEN and Jubilee Terminal Manuals. This position involves keeping detailed records of the performance, usage, and state of mooring equipment and cargo hoses, overseeing inspection and replacement processes, and acting as the company liaison for export hose activities. Moreover, the Mooring Master oversees pre-offtake equipment inspections, communicates with the Marine Logistics Lead about vessel support and maintenance, and works closely with the TGL Offtake Coordinators to maintain operational integrity and safeguard company assets.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs the tasks and obligations of a Mooring Master as outlined in the TEN and Jubilee Terminal Manuals.
- Supplies the Export Terminal Lead (ETL) with records of mooring equipment utilized during export activities, detailing the duration of equipment usage, average weather conditions affecting the equipment, and its overall state, along with the handling of mooring replacement needs.
- Serves as the Client/Company Representative for Export Hose installations, replacements, and damages, guiding third parties as needed and communicating lessons learned/as-built details to ETL.
- Coordinate with the Marine Logistics Lead via ETL for support vessels concerning upcoming berthing/export operations and any necessary maintenance on export equipment.
- Collaborates closely with TGL Offtake Coordinator(s) to guarantee that operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and in a cost-effective way, ensuring the company’s assets remain safeguarded.
- Collaborating with the Marine/Services Superintendent to ensure that the cargo quantity and quality meet specifications for Offtake operations.
- Collaborates closely with the AP/EHS coordinators to guarantee that resources are available for the safety of the Jubilee and TEN Terminal, including appropriate assets for Oil Spill response during Offtake Operations.
- Aid ETL in defining, reviewing, and choosing the support vessels needed for export operations, ensuring these vessels enhance the overall fleet model chosen for the Jubilee and TEN Terminal.
- Serves as the PFSO (Port Facility Security Officer) while on Export Tankers.
- Support the ETL and TGL Marine Technical Lead in performing audits and safety checks as per the authorized Tullow Marine Operations Procedure.
- Participates in and supports marine emergency response exercises alongside AP/EHS coordinators, including fire drills, oil spill containment exercises, man overboard drills, medical evacuation exercises, etc.
- Supplies the ETL competency records for Mooring Master and Assistant Mooring Master and serves as a mentor for the Assistant Mooring Master, pinpointing support or training/revalidation needs.
- Shows a personal dedication to Environment, Health, and Safety by adhering to International and Ghanaian Marine and EHS policies, guaranteeing compliance with statutory international marine regulations and best practices in the oil industry.
- To effectively fulfill TGL standards for Assistant Mooring Master and Mooring Master Competency through training.
Required Skills or Experience
Mooring Master Profile:Â
- At least 15 successful tandem mooring operations on comparable facilities.
- Possesses an unrestricted Master Mariner STCW Certificate of Competency.
- Holds GMDSS certification, along with either a Dangerous Cargo Endorsement certificate or a Tanker Safety (Oil) qualification.
Tanker Chief Officer Profile
- Possesses an unrestricted Master Mariner STCW Certificate of Competence with experience in loading and unloading oil or similar cargoes.
- Satisfies TGL Training criteria for Assistant Mooring Master and Mooring Master Competency Standards.
- Holds GMDSS certification, along with either Dangerous Cargo endorsement or Tanker Safety (Oil) qualification.
Pilot Profile
- A minimum of three years of experience holding an unlimited Master Mariner STCW Certificate of Competency.
- Exhibited exceptional ship handling skills, successfully berthing no fewer than 15 vessels exceeding 200 meters in length and overseeing Ship-to-Ship (STS) operations.
- Able to oversee tug operations during both berthing and unberthing.

- Robust leadership abilities and the capability to function with little oversight.
- Expertise in both oral and written English
- Effective leader in Environmental Health and Safety, demonstrates through action.
- Proficiency in computer skills related to Word and Excel.
- Capable of handling various tasks via efficient organization.
