POSITION: Environmental Officer
Position Summary
The Environment Department at Gold Fields is looking to hire a driven individual to take on the above role. He/She will support the implementation of all Environmental Management programs and apply his/her knowledge and expertise to help the department meet its compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Organize monthly, quarterly, and annual environmental reports for the Environmental Protection Agency, Minerals Commission, and Water Resources Commission.
- Facilitate weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports to Gold Fields.
- Accountable for overall water management on-site and adherence to water usage KPIs.
- Support all permitting and compliance efforts of the department.
- Accountable for overall waste management across the site and meeting waste KPIs.
- Accountable for environmental regulations at the gold processing facility and surrounding areas.
- Coordinate actions for mitigating and adapting to climate change.
- Gather, assess, and present information on water and waste management.
- Support in the investigation and documentation of environmental incidents.
- Aid in comprehensive environmental orientation and skills training across the site.
- Confirm adherence to the permit requirements set by the Water Resources Commission.
- Support internal environmental assessments and evaluations.
About You:
- A degree in Environmental Science/Sustainability/Natural Resources Management or similar fields.
- Possess at least four years of pertinent experience.
- Understanding of applicable laws, mining regulations, and procedural guidelines.
- Comprehensive understanding of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Management Systems.
- Pertinent experience in a Surface Mining Setting
- Hold a minimum of a Health, Safety, and Environment Officer Certificate of Competency issued by the Minerals Commission.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Health suitability for the role and surroundings.
- A legitimate Ghanaian driver’s license and skill in operating a light vehicle
