MSI Ghana is seeking a Laboratory Scientist for our Tema Centre. If you have strong knowledge of infection prevention protocols, excellent communication and analytical skills, plus a client focused, detail oriented approach, this role offers the opportunity to provide essential diagnostic services that support sexual and reproductive health care.

As a Laboratory Scientist, you will not simply run tests; you will provide diagnostic information that directly enables clinicians to manage clients effectively.
Your Mission
You will take responsibility for conducting laboratory investigations and diagnostic tests in accordance with approved standards and protocols. Your role includes collecting, processing, analyzing, and storing laboratory specimens appropriately, plus ensuring timely and accurate reporting of results to clinicians. Additionally, you will maintain proper documentation, conduct routine quality control checks, operate and maintain laboratory equipment, monitor stock levels, and collaborate effectively with clinicians and center staff.

Your role spans laboratory service delivery, quality assurance, equipment management, and client care. Here is what you will tackle:
Laboratory Service Delivery
- You will conduct laboratory investigations and diagnostic tests in accordance with approved laboratory standards and protocols.
- Collecting, processing, analyzing, and storing laboratory specimens appropriately.
- Ensuring timely and accurate reporting of laboratory results to clinicians and relevant stakeholders.
- Maintaining proper documentation and records of laboratory tests and results.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- You will ensure compliance with laboratory quality assurance systems and infection prevention and control standards.
- Conducting routine quality control checks on laboratory equipment, reagents, and testing procedures.
- Ensuring proper handling, storage, and disposal of laboratory specimens and waste according to safety guidelines.
- Participating in laboratory audits and quality improvement initiatives to strengthen service delivery.
Equipment & Inventory Management
- You will operate and maintain laboratory equipment effectively, ensuring functionality and prompt reporting of faults.
- Monitoring stock levels of laboratory reagents, consumables, and supplies, reporting shortages promptly.
- Supporting proper inventory management and storage of laboratory materials.
Client Care & Collaboration
- You will maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and excellent client care standards at all times.
- Then, collaborating effectively with clinicians and other center staff to support quality client management.
- Also, providing guidance to clients on specimen collection procedures where necessary.
- Finally, promoting client centered care and upholding MSI Ghana values and safeguarding standards.
What You Bring to the Role
Qualifications & Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science or a related discipline.
- Full registration with the Allied Health Professions Council of Ghana and good standing.
- A minimum of three years of relevant post qualification experience in a reputable health facility.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of laboratory quality assurance systems and infection prevention protocols.
- Computer literacy with good reporting and documentation skills.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
